Coming Home King's Court 2016

The class of 2016 has nominated the following young men to represent their class on the Coming Home King's Court: (from left) Jacob Lechner, Chris Kowalski, Kolton Jacobs, Dennis Boynton, Ethan Tippett, and Mitchell Corey.

The seniors kept the following criteria in mind while making nominations:

The members of the senior class feel that Coming Home King should be more than a popularity contest. We ask that you consider the following criteria when voting: positive school attitude, participates in school activities, sets a good example in his daily life, demonstrates school spirit, strives for excellence in his schoolwork, shows pride when representing his school, encourages others and is self-confident, and is courteous and kind in dealing with teachers, parents, and students.

Congratulations to these young men!

POWERBALL - more fun than the lottery!

On Tuesday, February 2, at 7:00 PM, the high school boys will carry out the tradition of competing in a boys' volleyball tournament, otherwise known as POWERBALL. This is sure to make for some great entertainment. Don't miss it! Admission is free. The laughs are priceless.

Coming Home Basketball Games

Friday, February 5th, our varsity teams take on their long-standing rivals, the Charlevoix Rayders. Girls play at 5:30; guys start at 7:00.

The gymnasium poster-making contest ensures that our school colors will be on grand display. The freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors decorate a wall and compete for best posters bragging rights.

New Traditions

Remember Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri as SNL's Spartan Cheerleaders? Well, this year we embark on a new tradition...

The parents of the senior class have been asked to reenact one of the SNL cheerleading skits. Who has obliged? Come to the game and find out. They will perform during the girls' halftime.

Lip Dub 2016

It's been two years since our first attempt at making a HSHS lip dub. This February the high schoolers will sing and dance to High School Musical's "We're All in This Together."

On a More Serious Note...

The HSHS Student Council blood drive is scheduled for March 4, 2016. Please log on to redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment.

Water Drive

In collaboration with Key Club and NHS, Student Council is hosting a water drive for the people of Flint. We will be collecting money and water bottles through February 19. Please consider donating to this cause. Our students have shown a tremendous amount of compassion for their Michigan neighbors, and I'm hoping our community will support them in their efforts. Our high school organizations will be communicating with the elementary schools and the middle school next week to coordinate efforts, so you can donate right at your own building.
