Staff Spotlight
Howdy Lobos!
This week’s staff spotlight is bittersweet as we say, Hail and Farewell to our Technology Liaison, Mrs. Jamie Keegan. Over the past two years, Mrs. Keegan has been a valuable member of our PSA team and serves in multiple facets around campus including: K-5 Specials, Lobo Dome, campus photographer, yearbook coordinator, student and teacher support, and technology liaison. In addition, Mrs. Keegan is an active member of our community and is involved in various organizations such as: PTA member, Girl Scouts Troop Leader, and she also volunteers at the no kill animal shelter.
Mrs. Keegan is married to her wonderful husband, Keith, and they are blessed with a beautiful daughter Sarah. The Keegan family will be relocating to the Raleigh, North Carolina surrounding area for Keith’s job promotion. What Mrs. Keegan will miss the most is the relationships she has built with various friends, colleagues, and students. The feeling is mutual.
The Prestwick family would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Keegan for all of her hard work, her positive spirit, and her dedication to working with our children everyday. Prestwick would like to extend our gratitude to Mrs. Keegan and best wishes to the entire Keegan Family!
Thanks to our WATCH DOG DADS ~ students loved having you on campus! It is not too late to be join our awesome dad team.
Positive Action: A Character Development Curriculum (Grades K & 1)
Positive Action: A Character Development Curriculum
Alongside four daily recesses, LiiNK students enjoy 15-minute Positive Action Lessons daily. Positive Action is "a systematic educational program that promotes an intrinsic interest in learning and encourages cooperation among students. It works by teaching and reinforcing the intuitive philosophy that you feel good about yourself when you do positive actions." Below you will discover some of the learning targets and vocabulary used as a part of the curriculum. As the school-home connection is a valuable tool for reinforcing positive actions, we encourage families to talk about Positive Action at home. Illustrated below is the thoughts-actions-feelings circle. Students will learn positive thoughts lead to positive actions, positive actions lead to positive feelings about ourselves, and positive feelings lead to positive thoughts. Teachers and school faculty will use the TAF cards to reinforce positive behaviors.
