Lion Camp and First Week Reminders!
Lion Camp TOMORROW and First Days of School!
- Tomorrow is Lion Camp! We are meeting in the large gym at 1:30 PM in your blue band shirt from last year. Please have your instrument, lyre/flip folder and sunglasses if you want! Be sure to come early if you can to find your seat and uncase. No one will go into the band hall because we have activities with the 6th graders right after the Pep Rally. If you can stay to help clean up at the end, please do! :-)
- You will need to have purchased your band supplies for this year by the first day. If you still don't have the two books, lyre and flip folder, please take care of that over the next couple of days.
- Please sign up to help play on the First Day of School with the Band! We need as many 7th and 8th graders as possible! Alumni are invited too, so spread the word to your high school friends!
- SCHOOL OWNED INSTRUMENTS (oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, tenor sax, bari sax, horn, euphonium, tuba) - expect a separate email with information from Mr. Brink soon. This will include how to pay the fee online and more. Remember, this is separate from your Registration Fee for the year (paid to Online school fees)
- Students will not need to bring their band instrument or band supplies on the first day of school, UNLESS they plan to play with us as we greet everyone on the first day! You all can come to the band hall early and use your band lockers after we play.
- Students WILL need their instruments and band binders/flip folders on Thursday and Friday. We will be playing at our first school pep rally on Friday afternoon (during school hours) - more info to come through Remind and email this week!
- All newsletters after this one will be specific to your child's band for the rest of the year. Please expect to see one each weekend from your director and let me know if you are not receiving them for some reason!

Band Registration and planning ahead!
The Band Registration Meeting will be Monday, August 21 at 6:00 PM. We will meet at 5:30 PM to warm up a little ahead of time. Please plan to attend for a short meeting in the large gym and a performance from the 7th and 8th graders from summer band camp!
EVERYONE MUST FILL OUT this required Registration form online for band. Please fill out the Registration Form below before the meeting. Here is the link to the Band Registration Process.
Band Registration fee for this year is $100 for Concert band, Symphonic band and Wind Ensemble.
Each family will need to be prepared to pay for their Band Registration Fee by the meeting or online anytime before the meeting. Please be sure to bring cash or checkbook to the Registration Meeting.

We will primarily use Smore newsletters (this!) and Remind texting for group communication this year. At times, we will also post on Canvas, but we don't have access to that yet. **Please check with spouses/guardians and band friends to ensure everyone you know received this email today! If not, please let a director know so we can add you to the distribution list**
Volunteers Needed!
- We are in need of volunteers for our Band Registration Meeting. If you are a returning Maus Band parent, you would be a great fit since you already "know the ropes" :-) If you're available to help at the Band Registration Meeting, please click the link here.
- Volunteers will be needed to meet at 5:30 PM, will be able to enjoy the presentation and performance, and then will be needed for check out at the end of the meeting. We will get you all the information you need!
- Be thinking about which Band event you would like to sign up for this year as we ask each family signs up to help at at least 1 event. This allows you to meet others in the Band Family and we really need the support! There will be sign ups at the Registration Meeting at check out.
Band Family Picnic Social!
- Our first social of the year is the Band Family Picnic Social! It is on Friday, August 25th 4:30-6:30 PM at Frisco Commons Pavilion/Hope Park.
- The price is only $5 per guest and includes unlimited pizza, water/lemonade and fun with your new friends and band family! Bring sports equipment or just hang out and catch up! This is a great way to meet your Maus Band Family and get excited for the upcoming school year together!
- You can pay for the social at the Registration meeting or prior. If you pay online using Zelle, Venmo or CashApp, please be sure to write in the memo it is for the Band Picnic. Only Maus Band family members and siblings are allowed, so please do not plan to bring friends. More information coming once school begins, but save the date!
