Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
November 30, 2017
Welcome back! It is the time of year to dust off your Advent wreaths as we prepare to light the first candle this coming weekend. We have many exciting events in store as we prepare to celebrate the season of Advent. Each class will present their Advent wreaths for a blessing during Mass on Friday, December 1st. Carols ring in the hallways as our students prepare for the Annual Christmas concert on Friday, December 15th. Our littlest of students are preparing to celebrate the coming of our Lord at their annual Christmas Pageant which will be held on Monday, December 11th. Our 8th grade students went shopping at the Santa Shoppe with our preschool students and were complimented for how well they supported their buddies. May Christ dwell within your heart as you prepare for Advent!
An enormous thank you to the families who took advantage of the discounted re-registration fee and are now registered for the 2018-2019 school year. The number of students we now have re-registered has enormously exceeded our expectations! It is so uplifting to hear all of the positive feedback from parents about all the wonderful happenings here at Our Lady of Good Counsel School!
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley

"Virtue of the Month"
Sadie A. Pre-K 4
Cece O. Grade 2
Grace K. Grade 4
Emily H. Grade 7
Tess F. Grade 8.
The virtue for the month of December is honesty. Honesty means telling the truth no matter what consequences you may face. An honest person does what he says he is going to do and never lies, cheats or steals. Honesty means more than not lying. Honesty means
you don't say things about people that aren't true. Being honest means you admit to your actions, even if you'll get in trouble. If you see someone displaying the virtue of honesty, fill out a virtue slip for them. The winners will be announced at our next Community Homeroom.
Healthy Hands/Healthy Heart
School Safety & Security
The safety of our students is our top priority. No visitor or volunteer may go to any area of the school without first signing in at the office and receiving a visitor’s badge. Visitors or volunteers are not permitted to go to a classroom to visit, confer with a teacher without an appointment, or visit any child in class, at lunch, or in the schoolyard. If parents wish to arrange a conference with a teacher or the principal, they should call the school office first.
