As we move into this long weekend, the FWISD Athletic Department would like to thank the teachers and staff for all you have done to kick off a successful school year!! Our volleyball teams are winning tournaments and football programs are getting ready for district play. Tennis, Swimming and Cross Country kids are preparing every day. Paschal defeats Granbury!!!!
The Paschal Panthers kicked off the season against Granbury this past Friday night at Farrington field. The Panther rushing attack took command of the game by rushing for 411 yards on 48 carries. Chris Gee led the charge with an impressive 231 on 28 carries and 2 touchdowns. The Panthers used a total of 5 different ball carries on the night. Tommy Bell had 13 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown of his own, while Will Henry carried the ball twice for 21 yards. Jacob Garcia had 11 yards on two attempts.
Chris Gee scored the Panthers first TD of the night on 14-yard carry. He had many long runs on the night, but none better than when he scored his final touchdown of the on a 38-yard carry to give the Panthers the lead they needed.
The Panther Punt team got the ball back for the Panthers as they forced a fumble and recovered. This change of possession led to the 11-yard touchdown run by Tommy Bell.
Junior quarterback Will Henry completed 4 of 8 for 101 yards and one touchdown. Cash Peck was his top target, the two were only able to connect for a 42-yard pass in the third quarter. The big completion was what set up the completion to Rose for a 10-yard touchdown.
Gray Gordon added a 41-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. The offense was not the only one to get in the endzone. The Panther defense had two interceptions in the game one by Niyonkuru Rodrique who returned the interception for a touchdown, and Chris Gee late in the fourth quarter. Gee’s interception sealed the game for the Panthers as they went on to win with a score of 38-35. The Panthers got out to the start they were looking for, they will face Richland this Thursday at Richland.

Cyndric Gilbert is a Senior Running Back and Defensive Back on the Raider Football Team. He is also a member of the Raider basketball team. In the game versus Saginaw High School, Cyndric rushed the football 11 times for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had 1 reception for 17 yards and returned a Kick-Off for a 95-yard touchdown. Cyndric performance on defense as a safety included 6 solo tackles. Cyndric is a humble young man who represents his family, teammates, and community the “Raider Way”.

Last week's physicals at North Side were quite an adventure. It was an interesting set of physicals as the power on the block went out, and the coaches and athletic trainers had to work in the dark to complete the physicals. Here are a few pictures for the newsletter.
