BCE Bear Mail
Welcome back to School from Principal Fippin
Hello BCE Community-
It was a fun-filled week this week at BCE. We started most of our enrichment classes this week. Art, Music, Library were fun for all. It was so great to get started with all our activities right away. Next week we will start ELA and Math intervention. We are lucky to have added another support staff to our intervention team this year. We will be launching both Lexia in the coming days. Many of you did Lexia last year. Your teachers will be reaching out with log-ins and directions again soon.
We had fun today on Jumpers celebrating those that did the summer road maps. Each student who completed the summer learning road map could come out and play with a popsicle. Thank you, families, for helping keep the learning going throughout the summer.
We also had a wonderful time learning more about PBIS here at BCE. Students visited several different locations around the campus to learn how to BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, and BE RESPONSIBLE. We will continue to focus on this throughout the year.
This weekend is the garden clean up. If you are free, please come out and join the team tomorrow morning from 8:30-10:30. Thank you in advance for helping keep our garden clean and a wonderful learning space.
Have a great weekend.
I can be reached best by email at gfippin@slvusd.org

Attendance Matters
We know people get sick, people get injured, and there can be family or life responsibilities and other issues that are reasonable and excused.
But if your student can attend, they need to be in school.
If your student is out for three or more consecutive days, we may request a doctor's note to continue excusing the absences.
Students who miss 3-5 days will receive a Chronic Absence letter. We will then meet with those families to attempt to support the student attending school. On the second Chronic Absence Letter, families may be required to meet at the District Office to put a plan in place for the student's attendance. On the third Chronic Absence Letter, families may be required to meet with the County Office Student Attendance Review Board for truancy.
Our goal is that nobody ever gets that far along with truancy. We are here to help and support, but it does start at home with the expectation that your student will attend school regularly.

Volunteers
We are excited to have volunteers back on campus. All volunteers need to be cleared with the appropriate paperwork from the office. The office is happy to help if you have questions about your volunteer status.
If you can volunteer this year, we would love to have you. Please speak with your teacher and office staff. All volunteer schedules need to be approved by classroom teachers before volunteers begin in classrooms.

Hot Lunch and Bus Passes
If your child will be riding the bus this year and will need a bus pass, please make sure you purchase your bus pass online here.
We would love to know who is riding the bus this year and what route they will be taking. Please complete this google form to help us know who will be riding. Please complete it for each student. We will use these lists to help with communication. If a bus is running late, we will send out an email to all families.
