A Message From The Principal
I hope that you are doing well and staying healthy! We are excited about our upcoming school year and we hope that you are too! This summer, we have been learning how to use CANVAS so that we are ready to go on September 8th! We will continue with The Leader in Me and using our 7 Habits this year. We've also decided on a School wide read aloud book that we will begin to read during the first week of October!
Our office hours are still by appointment only from 8-4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays but our office will be staffed M-F from 8-4 from now until September 7th. This is mainly for registrations that must be in person. We will return to our regular school office hours (8:00-4:30) once the new school year begins on September 8, 2020. Our bell schedule for this year will remain the same as last year. Student school hours will be 9:15 AM-3:55 PM.
Devices - Families who have requested a device for their Signal Hill student will be contacted soon. We have a dynamic team preparing devices and making sure everything is ready! Mr. Sims, Ms. McKay and Ms. Raiti make up our DEVICE DREAM TEAM!
Library Books - We are looking for any library books that might still be out there! Contact Ms. Raiti at firstname.lastname@example.org or Ms. Stavros at email@example.com if you have specific questions or to arrange a drop-off for your library book.
PWCS Return to Learning Link-
This is an excellent resource for PWCS' Return to Learning Plan and I encourage you to access it and bookmark it!
Teacher Assignments - Normally, we send a letter via US Mail however this year things are different (in so many ways). The teacher assignments will be available through ParentVUE on September 4, 2020. If you do not have a ParentVUE account, please use the link below which will walk you through the process:
If for any reason you cannot access ParentVUE, please contact Ms. Thomas, Registrar at thomasSR@pwcs.edu
Please look for this newsletter every Monday evening during the first quarter! I believe that communication is important and a weekly newsletter will work best while we are "Virtual." Should you need to contact me, you may call the front office or email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. Most of my communication these days is via email or in zoom meetings and I am working very hard not to miss any emails. My goal is always to answer emails within a 24 hour period however sometimes there is a 48 hour turnaround and I thank you for your patience. Mrs. Houseworth, our amazing Assistant Principal can be reached at email@example.com
On a personal note, many of you know that I have two sons and they both attended Prince William County Schools K-12! The picture is of the three of us last week when we moved my youngest son into his college dorm room at Virginia Tech. It was a difficult day for me just like I know how the first day of school can be difficult for many of you (even virtually). We will get through this TOGETHER! Most importantly, our school is not the same without our children and our families in it. WE MISS YOU!!!!! I long for the day when I can see everyone again face to face!
