Teacher Spotlight
A little bit about Mrs. Goetsch's family..
Husband, Brad, from Humboldt, Iowa; Grace – Senior at Mill Valley attending Northwest Missouri State next year to play soccer (goalkeeper) and study pre-nursing; Paige – sophomore at Mill Valley; Cooper (girl) – freshman at Milly Valley; Gus – 5th grader at PRE in Mrs. Mantel’s class
Mrs. Goetsch's best or favorite memory of being an elementary school student:
I have one very distinct teacher that always comes to mind. She was my 4th grade teacher and her name was Mrs. Williams and we were the “Williams Wonders”. I lived in Chapel Hill, NC with my mom and my sister growing up. Mrs. Williams had a reading loft in her room (the tallest queen sized loft you’ve ever seen) AND more astounding as I look back she took our whole 4th grade class on TWO overnight field trips to explore and learn about our state. We took an overnight trip to the beach and another to the mountains of North Carolina. Can you imagine?! These trips were two completely different experiences….which was the point. She wanted us to learn about the different parts of NC…how people lived and made money, what was the industry? We went to dinner to learn how to use our manners to order and figure out tips. We experienced the different economies and cultures of two completely differently places…and opened our eyes to what was outside of where we were living….but all in the same state. We took a charter bus! Part of our trip was to visit the Winston Salem cigarette manufacturer. I have never seen so many cigarettes being made! No, they did not give us souvenirs. But that was our 4th grade field trip as tobacco was big industry for North Carolina.
The best thing about teaching is...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE learning myself. And so to share my passion of learning and curiosity with young, developing kiddos is a blessing. I want to lay the foundation for the love of learning early on and that’s why I love the Early Childhood years. I can literally see their brains thinking in class. Kindergarten is a time of such growth and it is amazing to see the how much that change over the year….academically, socially …. gaining in independence and responsibility. So rewarding. . I want to nuture my students love of learning and curiosity and hope that they keep it for life.
The best thing about PRE is...
Well…I have nothing but awesome things to say about PRE! I started out as a parent 13 years ago…before I ever became a teacher. I have loved every single teacher my 4 kids have ever had at PRE and have gotten to know and love all of the staff over the years strictly as a parent. When I was able to come on board as a teacher, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. To join a school and become part of a team that was already family to me was so amazing. My youngest will finish his 5th grade year this year at PRE but I look forward to continuing on with my PRE family!
