WCHE Tigers Honor our Veterans November 11
The WCHE Tigers will be honoring our veterans during our Veterans' Day morning assembly.
Our assembly will be in the Gym at 7:40 am, and all of our Tiger families and veterans are invited to attend. If you plan to attend and have already had your photo ID scanned in to our Raptor security system, please RSVP here so that we can have your security badge ready for you when you arrive. All others will need to obtain a security badge in the office. Please be sure to bring your photo ID with you.
And, to all of our veterans, we thank you for your service. If you are unable to attend our assembly, we hope you can stop by some time to see our Veterans' Wall of Honor.
Important Information about Student Attendance
Dear West Cypress Hills Elementary Families,
We are moving along at full speed through the 2022-2023 school year. Once we begin the holiday season from November through January the days always seem to blend together. The coming months are very important to the academic success of our students. We will be introducing new content while building upon the material we have already introduced this school year.
It is imperative that your child be in school for the entire day. Our team members are providing instruction every minute of the day. Each day new concepts and applicable strategies are explored increasing our students’ knowledge base. Therefore, students need to be present from the first bell in the morning to the last bell of the day.
Disruptions in a student’s schedule such as being absent or tardy to school directly impact the learning process. We understand that there are life events, that include illness, that prevent our students from being present at school, and we will continue to work with students academically after an absence. This process becomes more difficult when student absences become more frequent.
WCHE’s academic achievement is dependent upon students being present and engaged in the classroom. We are closely monitoring each individual student’s attendance daily and will be in direct contact with families as needed.
Please contact me as soon as possible to update us on any absences.

West Cypress Hills' Student Council Can Drive is a Huge Success!
The West Cypress Student Council, in fierce competition with the Rough Hollow Student Council, held a can drive. The school with the most cans is to receive the Can Drive Trophy for 2022. As you can see from the photo above, the West Cypress foyer is covered in cans! Thank you, all, for your generous donations to our Can Drive, and thank you, WCHE Student Council, for putting this drive together and making it such a great success.
In addition to the WCHE vs RHE competition, the West Cypress classroom that collected the most cans is to be rewarded with a Silly String Popsicle party! And, the class collecting the MOST cans is Ms. Woll's First Grade class. Congratulations, to Ms. Woll's class!
The school with the MOST cans is Rough Hollow with 2,491 cans (average of 2.69 cans per student.) West Cypress collected 1,216 cans (an average of 2.05 cans per student.) Congratulations to the Rough Hollow Rattlers for winning the Can Drive Trophy! Well done! And, well done, Tigers, for covering our foyer in cans!
And, the BIGGEST WINNER OF ALL is the Helping Hands Food Bank because they are receiving all of this bounty just in time for the holiday season.
