ATA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The application, which includes the selection criteria, is linked below. Please note a transcript is required; however, it may be a copy rather than an original. The ATA office must receive the application on Friday, May 12th, by 4:30 PM.
RETIREMENT RECEPTION
ATA/AMA/CSEA will host the annual retirement reception for all employees this year. This is our opportunity to honor those retiring this school year. The names of those retiring this year are forthcoming. If you plan on retiring this year, please get in touch with HR and ATA so we can include you.
BRIDGE BENEFITS PROGRAM
The Retiree Medical Benefits (AKA “Bridge Benefits”) program allows qualifying ATA members and their dependents to continue to receive their existing health benefits after members retire and before they are eligible for Medicare benefits at age 65, with no change in out-of-pocket costs.
As a bargaining unit, we see the value of this program. We have made this a priority when bargaining with the district to ensure that this program remains solvent.
Find out more about this valuable program by reading ARTICLE XXXIII of our contract with the District.
TRANSFER REQUESTS
As unit members file for retirement, inquiries regarding voluntary transfer opportunities in the District have surfaced. The form to request a voluntary transfer is available on the District website and the HR department.
Article XVI: Transfers (p. 48) of the contract outlines factors considered when determining which unit members are granted a transfer. They include:
- Possession of an appropriate credential, major/minor and appropriate recent experience for the opening.
- Requirements of the District's Affirmative Action program.
- The educational needs of the District, such as General Program changes or requirements, the District's Bilingual Program requirements (as approved by OCR-Office of Civil Rights), Special Education Program requirements, changes in graduation requirements.
- The most recent written evaluation is satisfactory or better.
- The unit member with the greatest District seniority shall receive the transfer, provided the above factors are equal.
Upon request of the unit member, the District must provide written reason(s) why the transfer request was denied. The reasons are not grievable and should not be placed in the unit member's personnel file.
