The Buzz at Westbrook School

From the Principal...
October 29, 2021
Dear Westbrook Families,
It was so fun to see all of the students dressed up in costumes today. We are so grateful to the PTO and our room parents, who provided engaging activities for our Halloween parties. Thank you to all of the families who came out to see our Halloween parade. Students were excited to show off their costumes.
We are so grateful to the PTO for providing an outdoor assembly with the Jesse White Tumblers this week. The weather was gorgeous on Wednesday. Students enjoyed being outside, and they were amazed by the stunts and flips.
To keep more students in school and decrease the number of close contacts and students in quarantine, we have explored options to keep students six feet apart while eating in the lunchroom. Starting next week, students will sit on their assigned number (six feet apart) on the gym floor and use an individual tray to spread their food on. The individual trays will be cleaned and sanitized each day. If parents have any questions or would like to provide feedback on this plan, please contact me at DCrandall@d57.org. We appreciate your partnership.
There is a district institute day next Tuesday, November 2nd. Students will not be in attendance. Due to the day off, shield testing will be on Wednesday and Friday next week. You can access the shield testing schedule at this link.
For your Children,
Danielle Crandall
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for November 16th, 18th, and 30th from 4:20-8:20 pm. You can sign up for a time with your child’s teacher at this Sign-Up Link. You will be asked if you prefer an in-person conference at Westbrook or a Zoom conference. Zoom links can be found at this link.
We ask that all parents/guardians entering the building wear a mask and use hand sanitizer upon entry to the classroom. In addition, we ask you to maintain social distancing of six feet. If you have any covid symptoms (or active covid cases within your home), please notify the teacher, and you will be offered the opportunity to connect via zoom.

A friendly reminder to label all items your child brings to school. We try to reunite lost items with their owners before they are placed in the Lost and Found.
