Principal's Message
Good evening Scorpion Families,
We had a fantastic week back! Thank you parents for sending your children to school daily and on time! I would like to give kudos to 6th grade who had 100% attendance on our first day back!
Parents, we still continue to need your assistance with the following:
Pick-up in Elementary Drop off Zone- We have been adding personnel to our drop-off zone area to assist with a loading of students. In order to make this process faster, smoother, and more efficient, please place a visible sign with your child's first name, last name, grade, and teacher name. Thank you for your cooperation!
After School Pick-up- Due to supervision and safety concerns, please be prompt when picking up your children. Prek and kinder dismissal is at 2:45pm and 1st through 8th grade dismissal is at 3:15pm. Please advise your child's teacher if you will be running late. If your schedule does not allow for you to pick up your child on time, please know that our campus cannot provide after school care. Our campus does have the YMCA after school program on site, and many daycares in the area provide student pickup. The only students that are allowed after school are those that are in tutoring (by invitation) and/or in athletics. All other students must be picked up at their dismissal time. We do not have staff members dedicated to supervising children after dismissal time. Thank you in advance for keeping your child safe.
Our goal is to keep your child safe at all times. While many procedures might seem to be an inconvenience, please know that your child's safety and well-being is our #1 priority. Thank you.
STAAR Testing
We also need your help with our upcoming STAAR assessments. ALL 3rd- 8th grade students will be taking at least two STAAR assessments, and it is extremely important for all students to attend on their designated testing days. STAAR dates will be shared next week ! Students that attend on their scheduled testing day will receive a special treat!

Instant Access to Grades and Attendance ๐ฏ๐๐

Grades and attendance are accessed through your child's Tyler account. Please take a moment to review your child's grades and attendance. If you have any questions on your child's grades, please contact your child's teacher. Please contact attendancebillsybert@sisd.net for any attendance questions.
Attendance ๐ซ๐๐ฉโ๐
Attendance- Let's Be at School EVERYDAY!
School success begins with attendance! There have been some changes to our incentives:
- Each STUDENT with perfect attendance for 3rd 9 weeks will be invited to attend a pizza party, a one- week free dress bracelet, and be entered into a raffle to win toys, gift cards, coupons, parties, and bikes!
- Each CLASS with 100% attendance or above for the week will earn a popcorn party on the Friday of the week they have reached that goal!
- Each GRADE LEVEL that meets or exceeds our 97% school-wide goal each 9 weeks will have a party of their choice!
We are currently calling and meeting with parents of students who are not meeting the 90% school year requirement to obtain class credit or have excessive absences. Please understand that we are calling in order to provide support and assistance to assure our students receive the best education possible.
Tardies โฒ
Parents, in order to maximize our studentโs instructional time, we ask that your child attend school daily and on time.
Lunch detention for students will be imposed for students who:
Arrive after 7:45am for 2nd- 8th grade students
Arrive late to class during transition (middle school students)
Students will begin serving lunch detention on the 4th tardy accumulated during each 9 weeks (effective 2/6/23). It is extremely important for students to learn responsibility and is expected to report to lunch detention. If student does not report to lunch detention, student will serve after school detention the following day.
A student is tardy if he/she is not inside the classroom or at the assigned area for class at the designated time, unless he or she has an authorized excuse (counselor, nurse, etc). Tardies may count against a studentโs perfect attendance if the schoolโs School Improvement Team (SIT) adopts this as policy.
Cell Phones ๐ด
Cell Phones
Cell phones must be TURNED OFF at 7:45am and should remain off during the entire instructional/afterschool tutoring portion of the school day. Any cell phone that is not turned off, is out and visible during the school day, including lunch, will be confiscated.
- 1st Offense: Phone will be confiscated. Parent will be notified and student can pick up at the end of the school day from the front desk.
- 2nd Offense and any offense thereafter: Phone will be confiscated. Parent will be notified and phone will be picked up by a parent after school at the front desk. A $15 fine is paid as per SISD Board Policy on the 2nd offense and any offense thereafter. Campus will hold the cell phone until the fine is paid.
Please speak to your child about this policy. Our number one goal is to ensure our students have an environment conducive to learning. Thank you in advance for your support.
