Georgia Intern Fellowship for Teachers

Applications are now open for the Georgia Intern Fellowship for Teachers (GIFT). Founded in 1991 as a program of the Georgia Institute of Technology's CEISMC, GIFT provides paid summer STEM internships in industry workplaces and university laboratories for K-12 science, mathematics, and technology teachers. Teachers spend 4 to 7 weeks experiencing first hand how industrial scientists and researchers approach problems, design experiments, interpret data, communicate findings, and develop and implement workplace solutions.For more information about the GIFT Program, click here:

Science and Social Studies Standards


The Science Georgia Performance Standards have been reviewed and revised over the last several months. Many of you may have participated in this process by completing one of the stakeholder surveys or by serving on one of the revision committees. Today marks the beginning of a 60-day public review period of the draft K-12 Science Georgia Standards of Excellence, and we encourage you to review the draft and provide feedback via a brief survey<>. To ensure that you receive important information throughout the revision process and beyond, please consider signing up for one or more of the email lists below:

Social Studies:

The Social Studies Precision Review The draft Social Studies Georgia Standards of Excellence are ready for public comment. Review the revised standards and access a survey for public comment and feedback. The revised standards will be posted for 60 days until March 14, 2016, at 5:00 P.M. EST. The finalized standards will be presented to the State Board of Education for approval on March 31, 2016. Resource development, professional learning, and assessment alignment will begin after the standards are approved. The first year of implementation is planned for the 2017-2018 school year.
