5th Grade - Website Evaluation Continues
After encountering a website with incorrect information, students now see the need to evaluate a website to determine it's reliability. We started last week using 5 pieces of evaluative criteria (Publication date, URL, Pop-up ads and advertising, Email / Contact / Author Credentials, and Designer / Publisher of site). After evaluating a website easily found through a Google search, students had to consider the question of whether or not they would chose to use the site.
This week, students will begin to compare sites, to decide if they will use one over the other site. They might decide to use one site over the other, or decide to use both, or decide to use neither one! Through this process, students will begin to understand that the act of choosing a resource online is an important and necessary step in the research process.
4th Grade - Begin Landmark Research
4th Grade students are learning about the different regions of the US. To extend on this topic, students will be researching landmarks found in these regions. Students will consider different kinds of questions related to what someone should know about a landmark, and will make a decision about the "most important thing" to know about a certain landmark.
3rd Grade - Genre Definitions: The Conclusion
Students will continue to share their definitions about genres. The collective ideas as a class has been helping us truly understand what makes a book fall under a certain genre! It has been a fun experience to learn about genre in new and exciting ways through this process!
