4AB Math Class
With Ms. Ramsey 03-24-17
Dear families,
We constructed parallel and perpendicular line segments all week. Many students are mastering this skill! Drawing parallel lines is much more difficult than drawing perpendicular lines. Please help your child remember to measure the distance between points using a ruler on opposite sides of the line segments to ensure they are equidistant apart :)
We finished the week with beginning to classify polygon, specifically al the different quadrilaterals. We will continue this into next week and begin an in class Geometry Town project ! As always, email me with comments, questions, or concerns!
All my love,
Ms. Ramsey

Steps to Constructing
Drawing Parallel Lines
- Draw a line using a straight edge.
- Using a protractor, draw a point above 90 degrees
- Construct endpoints on the line
- Move the protractors so that one of the endpoints has 90 degrees about it
- Repeat step 2
- Connect the 2 points with a straight edge
Draw Perpendicular Lines
- Draw a line with a straight edge
- Draw a point on the midpoint of the line below the 90 degrees.
- Draw a point above the 90 degree mark
- Connect the 2 points with a straight edge
- Measure the angle to check your work
