Principal Notes

Fifteen days left before summer. I want you to know that each of these days is packed as we close. I encourage you to support and work with each other in your teams. I know our staff is quite helpful and together we will end strong.

I will open the building on May 21st and 28th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm to give teachers the opportunity to work on packing up their rooms. Remember, personal belongings should be taken home. Any loose materials/pieces/books that staff will use next year will go into the boxes provided for storage. Textbooks and materials from the resource room will be picked up separately. Beginning Monday 5/16, the custodians will provide each room with three trash bags in the morning to use for trash from the classrooms. Trash collected during the day will be placed in the trash cans that will be set up daily in the hallways from 1:00 pm - 4:00pm. No trash should be placed in the hallway after 4:00pm.

We expected to have roster assignments and room numbers ready by now and it did not happen. We are very close to filling all vacancies and on Wednesday, 5/18, staff will know their assignments and room numbers for the 2016-17 school year.

The due date for the completion of the District Wide Spring Climate Survey is extended to May 20th. Teachers must verify their TEI rosters. The deadline for teachers to submit rosters is May 25 at 5:00 pm.

District P2LD and Cabell PD Plan

Cabell staff is not required to register for the district PD sessions at this time. Cabell will be providing PD for its staff beginning on August 8th - August 19th. Cabell staff will meet the required 14 hours of PD by attending sessions on campus during the dates mentioned above. The Feeder Pattern is providing PD on August 17th which our staff must attend. Some of the sessions will be required based on campus needs, while others will be based on choice. Note that staff may register voluntarily for the district PD offerings.

Final PTA Event - DI and Strings

This Tuesday, May 17th, the Cabell DI team, 2016 State Champion, will take the stage to present their winning piece to the school before they head off to Knoxville, Tennessee for Globals. Come see the team receive their proclamation from the City of Farmers Branch and the unveiling of the Champion's Banner. Also performing will be the 5th graders and Strings. Habits of Mind: Persevere

This mind set describes one’s ability to see a task through until the end. It is “stick-to-it-ness.” We need to help students learn to keep trying and not to give up easily. This mind set also helps students understand that failure is a part of life and that one can learn to move beyond the setbacks and still be successful.

Mission Statement

our mission is to promote student success through a high quality education. For every child to succeed, we must hold students and ourselves to high expectations. Only the courageous pursuit of excellence will lead to success.
