What is it?

Pentecost also known as "White Sunday" celebrates the birthday of the Christian Church. Fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Easter Sunday, the Holy Spirit came upon the followers of Jesus in Jerusalem. All the people were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages as the Holy Spirit gave them the ability to. Therefore bringing the people together and adding about 3,000 new converts to the Church.

Activities


  • Pentecost is a happy festival. Ministers in church often wear robes with red in the design as a symbol of the flames in which the Holy Spirit came to earth.
  • A mass or worship service will be held
  • Pentecost is also known as "White Sunday" because that is the day when many people who want to get baptized get baptized and wear white.
  • Kids in Sunday school will learn about Pentecost through drawing, coloring and creating art pieces symbolizing the special day

Significance

Pentecost is a special day for any Christian, but it is emphasised particularly by Pentecostal Churches. Pentecostal Christians believe in the direct experience of the Holy Spirit by believers during all of their services.

  • Wind
