Fall Follies
Sept 23rd is fast approaching for our Fall Follies!!! This is a great opportunity find the "hidden" talents in our students. We often hold a talent show at the end of the year and are surprised by their many abilities and gifts. This will give us the opportunity to build off the talents of our students all year long. Please hold your grade level talent shows, and give Anna Simpson two to three grade level acts by Friday the 18th at 3:00. Also let Anna know if your class will be doing an act. Please limit individual / small group acts to close to 2 minutes, and as always, make sure they are appropriate for school!

Nine Ways To Catch Kids Up
In response to some of our current conversations on math intervention I thought you might find this article from Marilyn Burns to be an interesting read. It addresses how we can help our floundering students that lack basic math concepts make gains.

Check out the Sites and Resources Listed Above!
- The first article gives 5 structures that you could use rather than Think-Pair-Share to engage students in discourse.
- The second link has a variety of videos of reading and writing mini-lessons in several different grades using the Lucy Calkin's units of instruction. You can also find a variety of assessments and resources on this site as well. It is one of my favorites!
- Constitution week is the week of September 17th. If you plan to celebrate this site may give you some ideas to engage students of all ages on this topic.
- Math Coach's Corner is a fabulous site. It has teaching suggestions and blogs on best practices for teaching math in the elementary classroom.
