IB Class of 2014
OMG you are almost a senior!!
IB Year One is DONE
Summertime!
If you get bored of laying horizontal on your couch, below are some options that might be fun and also help your CAS requirements (and provide additional awesomeness for your resume and college application).
- Be a Junior Docent or volunteer at the Bush Library. Contact Monica Lerma if you are interested (monica.lerma@nara.gov or 979-691-4006).
- The Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley has volunteer and internship opportunities. Contact Amy Hall if you are interested (education@cmbv.org or 979-779-KIDS).
College Applications
Check the websites of the schools you are applying to for deadlines. December 1st is a typical deadline for major universities. Complete your applications as early as possible so you have one less thing to worry about. To complete your application, send an official transcript and your SAT/ACT scores.
The big news with Apply Texas is that they've changed the essay topics for the first time in years ... maybe you'd like to start outlining these while you have time.
One last thing ...
It has been a great pleasure to be your guidance counselor these past few years. I remain happy to help you in any way I can, including writing you a letter of recommendation should you need/want one from me. You can email me at heididoodles@gmail.com. I found out last week that I will be a counselor at Westlake High School, so I will eventually have an email address there if you want to look me up that way.
I don't know yet who will be the IB counselor, but I am confident that you will be in good hands.
Good luck next year ... you will be in my thoughts.
