Chapter 10 Vocabulary
The length of any one of its sides.
Height of a Parallelogram-
The perpendicular distance between the base and the opposite side.
Bases of a Trapezoid-
A trapezoids two parallel sides.
Height of a Trapezoid-
The perpendicular distance between the bases.
Area-
Circle-
A round plane figure who's boundary (the circumference) consists of points from the center.
Radius-
A straight line from the center to the circumference of a circle or sphere.
Diameter-
Circumference-
The distance around a circle.
Pi-
The ratio of the circumference of a circle to it's diameter
Solid-
A three dimensional figure that encloses a part of space.
Polyhedron-
A solid that is enclosed by polygons.
Face-
Prism-
A solid, formed by polygons, that has two congruent bases lying in parallel planes.
Pyramid-

Sphere-
A solid formed by all points in space that are the same distance from a fixed point called the center.
Edge-
Vertex-
The endpoint of the rays that form an angle.
Net-
A model that you can cut and fold and lay out of a solid shape.
Surface Area-
The sum of the areas of the faces of the polyhedron.
Slant Height-
The diagonal distance from the apex of a right circular cone or a right regular pyramid to the base.
Volume-
The amount of space a solid occupies.
