News from the School Nurse
Please continue to contact Nurse Doherty (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any updates to your child's health. If you or your child have been exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive, Nurse Doherty will review the protocols for attending or returning to school.
We will continue to notify families if there are any positive cases of COVID-19 at the school. Please contact the school office if you have any questions about school communication.
Despite the change to Massachusetts' outdoor mask mandate policy last week, the Woburn Public Schools still require all individuals to wear a mask in school, on school grounds, and while riding the school bus.
In addition, you can find COVID-19 Testing Sites in Massachusetts here. Students who must quarantine or miss school due to medical reasons may participate in remote learning classes with the approval of the school principal. Contact Mr. Kessaris (email@example.com) if you need more information.
The WPS quarantine protocols are available in the following languages:
All students in grade four must submit documentation of an up-to-date physical to the school nurse's office.
Massachusetts has updated its COVID-19 travel advisory. Use the link to access the current information.
Thank you for helping to keep our schools safe!

Before the Bell Program
Our Before the Bell Program is open. We are now accepting applications. Your child MUST have the attached form completed and approved before they can begin the program. Please complete the registration form for each child. Once we meet our maximum capacity, your child will be wait-listed in the order the application was received. You will be notified if we are unable to accept your child's application.
Please drop your child off to Miss Beth at the side entrance of the gym (next to the main entrance) on the days you wish to participate (doors will be labeled for easy access). You may come every day once approved or on a need-to basis. Drop off begins at 7:15am. The program staff will escort the children to class promptly at 8:15am. The children will participate in safe activities and follow district guidelines during their time in the program.
The cost is $5.00 per day. Attendance is taken and a bill will be sent home at the end of each month with your child. Please make checks payable to Woburn Public Schools and return the payment with the invoice to Mrs. Gibbons or the office.

Transition Resources for Families
It is age-appropriate for young children to have questions and/or worries about changes to their routine or daily schedule. With that in mind, our school counselor has created two presentations with things families can do to ease the transition to full-day instruction at the Goodyear.
Please remember that although some things at school will be different, many will remain the same for your child. Reassurance and problem-solving at home and in school will help with these obstacles.

Early Childhood Program (Preschool) - Free Screening
Dear Goodyear families,
This flyer is intended to be shared with Woburn families and to serve as a reminder that the Woburn Early Childhood Program conducts screenings for children who have turned 3 years old by September 1, 2020 who present with concerns in one or more areas of her/his development.
What is Preschool screening? Pre-school screening is a brief assessment procedure designed to assess children's developmental levels and to identify children who, because of potential learning disabilities, or cognitive, communication and/or social challenges, may require a referral for a special education evaluation which is a more intensive level of diagnostic assessment.
Who is eligible for screening? Children living in Woburn who have turned 3 years old by September 1, 2020 are eligible to participate in the preschool screenings.
More information is available in English, Spanish (español), and Portuguese (português).
