Ms. Wegley's Class News
May 28th, 2013
We have finished the book From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. This week, we will be wrapping up and discussing the book! There will be NO spelling/vocabulary assigned this week.
Students have begun typing their final fiction pieces for Book 3. They are very creative, and students cannot wait to share them! These will be done on Google Docs so that they can easily be uploaded to their personal websites.
Students are creating their final projects for science this week. Their homework is to come up with a chain reaction machine that can accomplish some sort of task. In their science notebooks, they will be filling out each step of the machine, and what energy transfers each step takes. Students need a minimum of 6 steps and at least 2 different types of energy transfers (i.e., light energy to heat energy) for their machine designs.
Students have been offered an assignment to boost their social studies grade this week since the social studies unit was very brief earlier in the trimester. They may write one paragraph explaining what, specifically, they enjoyed learning about in Social Studies this year: Describe a few memorable experiences; Why do you feel what you learned is important? What does history have to do with you? These are due NO LATER than Thursday.
Fifth-grade math will be wrapping up Unit 11 this week and next week.
