Electronic Literature Criticism Databases
To find electronic literature criticisms, access the databases listed below.
*Note that literature criticisms found in a database are already cited for you.*
To access databases at home, log in to Mackin Via with the username and password provided by your librarian.
Gale
- Go to the Gale database.
- Click "Literature Resource Center"
- Uncheck all boxes except "Literature Criticism"
- Type in your search terms (Othello)
- Click "search".
Ebsco
- Go to the Ebsco database.
- Click "Student Research Center"
- Click "Advanced Search"
- Type "Othello" in quotes and choose "all text" the right in the drop down.
- Type in "literary criticism" and choose "subject" to the right in the drop down.
- For best results, click "full text" and "peer reviewed" in all of the database specs.
- Click "search".
Proquest
- Go to the ProQuest database.
- Click "Literature" (picture of the open books)
- Click "Advanced Search" (above search bar)
- Type in "Othello" in quotes. Keep "all fields + text" in dropdown to the right.
- Type "literary criticism" in the second field. Choose "Subject heading (all)" in the dropdown menu next to it.
- For best results click "full text" and "peer reviewed" under the search bar.
- Click "scholarly journals" under source type.
- Click "search".
If you still can't find one, try Google Scholar
- Go to Google Scholar
- Type in "Othello" in quotation marks, "Shakespeare" in quotation marks, and "literary criticism" in quotation marks
- Click enter on your keyboard.
