PASS/FAIL REQUIREMENTS: You will need to complete this link, even if you have already submitted your form
Listed below is information in regards to Pass/Failing a course.
To encourage more students to participate in upper level courses and to pursue specific interests in a four-year sequence of courses for which there is no honors designation, the district will allow high school students to apply for a Pass/Fail grading option for any course above and beyond the graduation requirements. Courses taken as pass/fail will not count toward graduation requirements, including endorsements. Students may earn up to four credits (eight semesters) as pass/fail. These pass/fail courses will be excluded from the computation of grade point averages and class rank. Pass/fail applications must be submitted each semester.
If you previously submitted a Spring 2020 hard copy of your pass/fail before Spring Break, you MUST re-submit an electronic copy
Students who elect this option for Spring 2020:
must submit the electronic application with all appropriate signatures by Thursday, April 9th at 3:00 pm
the electronic application can be found here: Spring 2020 Pass/Fail Electronic Application
may not request a change back to a traditional numerical grade on the transcript once the pass/fail option is approved
will receive numerical grades on progress reports and report cards for eligibility purposes
will receive a P (Pass) or F (Fail) for the semester grade associated with that course(s) on the transcript
may NOT pass/fail a dual credit course
Please be mindful:
Completion of the electronic application does not guarantee pass/fail.
Counselor approval is required after electronic application is submitted.
Counselors will be letting each student know via email once approved or denied. If denied, the reason will be given.
If you previously submitted a Spring 2020 hard copy of your pass/fail before Spring Break, you MUST re-submit an electronic copy

Junior year - College Prep checklist
SUBJECT: Your college prep timeline/checklist
Dear Panthers,
As you may know, junior year is the time for you to begin thinking about college, as you’ll start applying for college as early as November senior year!
So during junior year, I encourage you to do four main things:
College research: Learn about different colleges and which ones might be a good fit. Potentially begin going on campus visits. (Or, given Coronavirus, check out videos and virtual campus tours.)
Study for standardized tests: If you’re considering a college that requires the SAT or ACT, it’s normally wise to take the test in the Spring. This way, if you’re unhappy with your score, you have time to retake it at the beginning of senior year. However, since standardized tests have now been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, we encourage you to take advantage of the extra time to study for the SAT/ACT and take the test in the fall, and/or consider applying to test-optional colleges.
Learn about financial aid: Once senior year rolls around, you’ll be too busy doing college applications to research the financial aid process. So focus on understanding that (and taking note of deadlines!) now. To start, here’s a good primer on how college financial aid works, and here’s an explanation of the most important financial aid acronym: EFC (Expected Family Contribution).
Apply for scholarships. High school juniors are eligible for plenty of scholarships, and it’s never too early to begin earning money towards your college tuition! Plus, it’s pretty easy to turn common scholarship essays into college essays, when the time comes. To find and apply for scholarships, recommend you sign up for Going Merry.
I know that may seem like a lot to keep track of though, so you might also find this Junior Year Calendar/Checklist to be quite helpful. Print it out, and check things off as you complete them!
