Winter Party!

Thank you so much to everyone who came and volunteered for the Winter Party! It was so much fun! The students made a snowman ruler to measure the snow, played a fun game, tied blankets, and ate a yummy snack! A special thank you to our room parents and all of our volunteers today!!

Gingerbread, Gingerbread, Gingerbread!

We read a Scholastic Reader about the history of gingerbread. Did you know that about a thousand years ago, bakers in Europe stared making gingerbread cookies? They made cookies into different shapes and were popular year round! A few hundred years later, in Germany bakers started making gingerbread houses. They may have gotten the idea from the story, "Hansel and Gretel"! So interesting!

We then decided to make gingerbread cookies. The kids were able to mix, stir, roll and cut our their gingerbread shapes. We baked them and then ate them! The kids also graphed on a plot graph whether they liked the gingerbread or not. The results showed that they liked it by a landslide!

We also read the gingerbread boy and girl and then drew and cut out our own gingerbread girl and boy. They then wrote down the similarities and differences on the gingerbread from the book.

Pen Pals

As you know, we are pen pals with a second grade class at Sand Creek Elementary. We wrote them letters a few weeks ago, and just received letters back this week! The kids were so excited to read them and immediately wanted to write letters back. We just wrapped them up and are sending them out today!
