Oct 25th - Nov 8th

From the Principal

Greetings Schroeder Families –

We were very pleased to see so many of you attending your child’s conferences
with our faculty. We had 92% of our families participate in these important meetings.
Thank you for being involved in your child’s education!

On Thursday, Oct. 31, we will be holding the first of our four Academic & amp;
Character Excellence (ACE) Assemblies. This is a day to celebrate all that is good and
recognize accomplishments of the students of Schroeder Middle School.

Our Booster Club, lead by Mrs. Carrie Weippert, is planning for Schroeder’s
annual Family Fun Night on Monday, Nov. 4. There are multiple opportunities for you to
volunteer, provide prizes, or become a member of the Booster Club. Additional
information is provided below. Our teaching teams and office staff will be providing
themed gift baskets that will be raffled off during the Fun Night.

Parental Notification

Dear Parent or Guardian:

On November 13th, during Raider Time, Schroeder Middle School will be conducting a research survey of our youth. The results of the survey will help determine topics for Thursday circle time lessons, and assist with identify future social/emotional curriculum needs in our building.

The survey is titled the REACH Survey. It focuses on young people’s own

perception of their relationships with teachers and skills that are essential for success in school and life. This survey will help our school work with you to ensure that our students have the opportunities they need to be successful in life. It does not ask more sensitive questions about high risk behavior.

Overview of Key Points:

The survey is not a test. It is a survey of your child’s experiences and opinions. There are no right or wrong answers.

  • There are no consequences if your child chooses not to participate. Students who do not participate will be asked to read or study quietly while the survey is administered.
  • The survey will be completed online and will take around 20 minutes to complete.
  • The survey is anonymous. Your child’s name will never be attached to his/her responses.
  • Participation is completely voluntary. You may refuse participation on behalf of your child and your child can skip items if they so choose and end their participation at any time.
  • The survey asks about young people’s own experiences and ideas as well as some information about themselves (e.g., age, gender, race/ethnicity).
  • Other than some possible discomfort with some questions, there are no risks to participating in this study. Your child will be told of his/her right to skip any question he/she does not want to answer.
  • There is no compensation for participating in this research. However, key overall findings will be shared with families and others who are interested in ensuring that young people have the supports they need in their lives.

A copy of the survey will be available for parent review from November 6th-8th from 8:00am-4:00pm in the counseling center.

The value of this kind of study depends upon the participation of many youth. We hope you will encourage your child to participate. In doing so, they will help strengthen the supports for students at Schroeder Middle School.

**If you DO NOT want your child to participate, you must complete and return the form on the bottom of this information by November 11th. If no form is received your child will be invited to participate in the study. If you have any questions, please contact Christine Litzinger, School Counselor at 701-746-2330. Thank you!
