5th Grade Anderson Choir!
Dear Families of 5th Grade Students!
We are thrilled to announce that this year D303 is again offering a 5th Grade Choir Program for ALL Elementary Schools! This program will run in a similar fashion as the current Elementary Band and Orchestra programs with a weekly before-school rehearsal, but will NOT conflict with current band and orchestra rehearsals. The choir program will run from mid-October through May, with our first rehearsal being Friday, October 22!

We need a few Parent Volunteer's for PE Hikes!
Mr. Navis and Mr. Smith were inspired by our own Anderson Woods and are organizing an amazing opportunity for our Anderson students to continue to explore and experience nature. On the 3rd Wednesday of every month, (weather permitting!), they will take every class to the Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve, located right across from our school. This experience will show our students the incredible diversity of the plant and wildlife that can be discovered right in our community. Taking a hike through Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve will possibly even inspire the exploration of other nearby forest preserves such as Jon J. Duerr, Leroy Oakes, Johnson Mound, and Otter Creek.
The PE Department is looking for 1-2 parents, grandparents, guardians to help with each class. Volunteers will need to check-in at the main office (please wear a mask, and bring an ID to be registered into our volunteer database), and then meet with Mr. Navis, Mr. Smith, and the classes at the front of the school. It is recommended that you arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow enough time to be checked in.
The hike is just under 1 mile in length, starting and ending at Anderson Elementary. The terrain is a mixture of pavement, grass, dirt, woods chips and at times, uneven. The first hike of the year will be on Wednesday, October 20. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please take a moment to use our Sign-Up Genius to pick your time! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Navis and/or Mr. Smith!
Costume Parade and Classroom Party Info
PARADE
On Friday, Oct. 29th, (2:00-2:20 PM) Anderson will have a Costume Parade to celebrate all things fall and fun! If your child wants to wear a costume in our parade, they are welcome to bring a simple costume to school. Their teacher will give them time before the parade begins to change into the costume. Please keep all costumes simple enough that your child can put them on themselves. (Please no violent-themed costumes. No Blood/Guts... Remember we have younger students)Parents/guardians, Grandparents are welcome to come to view the parade. The parade route will make its way outside to the back of the school. We will have cones set up marking the route. Please practice social distancing when gathering to view the parade.
CLASSROOM PARTY
Each classroom will celebrate all the hard work they have done since the start of school by having a party on Friday, Oct. 29th. (Approx: 2:20-2:50 PM). Each grade level and teacher may need parents helpers to plan, host, or simply help in the classroom for the party. See info from your child's teacher regarding their plans for the class party. We highly recommend that all students take their "normal" transportation home. This keeps our dismissal process smooth and safe for all kids.
Due to COVID-19 Mitigations, we ask that all Haloween Parties not include any food treats.
NEED TO KNOW INFO:
- All volunteers entering the school building will need to present proof of a COVID Vaccination or a negative COVID test from the past 72 hours.
- Also, just a reminder, that all volunteers also need to bring a current driver's license or state ID in order to comply with the D303 Security Check before they enter the building.
- Each volunteer needs to also fill out a D303 Volunteer Waiver Form.
