First Grade Highlights
After spending nine months together in the narrow confines of a crowded classroom, our first grade students have grown close, built relationships, and developed a love for learning. We have focused our attention on building a community full of respectful and caring friends. We have helped them move from arguing over things to working together and solving their own problems. Students have worked on sharing, taking turns, giving positive compliments to one another, sticking up for themselves, and building confidence.
Students entered into first grade writing random strands of letters, backwards numbers, and reading introductory readers. We now have authors of multiple page stories, completing double digit addition problems, and reading challenging texts. Students are no longer afraid to share stories or their own writing, rather they are excited and are constantly asking to read aloud to the class and share their writing. Students are using higher order thinking when learning, reflecting on their own work as well as their classmates, and challenging each other to do their best work.
As we give you back your now second grade child, always remember we will share their joys and sorrows, we shall always be their friend and teacher! They can come to us at any time, in any grade or building. We will always be here for them! Your child will be greatly missed as a first grade student!

3rd Grade Highlights
The 3rd grade team has had an amazing year! We look forward to seeing what the future holds for these special students. As we look back on the year, we are reminded of the good, the bad and the ugly times at Park Elementary School. We started out the year learning about what the Oscars are and some of us even got to dress up as movie stars while receiving the Oscar of the month. Mrs. Schewe also taught us to reach for the stars and DREAM BIG! The 3rd graders have some big dreams and we hope they all continue to DREAM BIG!
In February, we got to learn about water safety and boy did we have a blast splashing in the Marinette High School Pool. The 3rd graders can’t wait for their 4th grade swim lessons. In April, a lot of us took part in the 3rd & 4th grade Game Night hosted by a 6th grader at Marinette Middle School. We had lots of fun playing board games and a good old fashioned game of Dodgeball. They also really enjoyed the snacks that were provided. Forward testing took place in April as well. All of the students, took the their time and tried their best...it was so encouraging to see!
In May, we had our first dose of what Jr. Olympics is. Wow there is definitely some athletes in the 3rd grade. Lots of ribbons won by all and us 3rd grade teachers can’t wait to see the results next year.
We will greatly miss each and every one of the students. It was our pleasure working with all of kiddos and the families. Always dream big and put forth effort in everything you do!! Have a fun and safe summer.

It is a $100 rebate for sales and use tax paid on purchases made for raising a dependent child in 2017. Filing start date: May 15, 2018 Claimant Eligibility
Filing deadline: July 2, 2018
Qualified Child Eligibility *Dependent is determined using guidance described in IRS Publication 501, regardless of whether the claimant files a 2017 federal income tax return.

A Few Words from Mrs. Schewe
We have had an amazing year! Students learned, staff learned, I learned! Our children are the future and that is why I started DREAM BIG. Please support your child's dreams! Encourage him or her to never give up and remind him or her that his or her hard work will pay off when he or she enters college or begins a career!
It was wonderful to have had your support and I feel blessed that you entrusted us to take care of the most important person in your lives!
