3 Extra INSET Days Announced
1 per annum to commence 2019/20
Kirsty Williams announces 3 Annual National INSET days
Education Minister, Kirsty Williams has announced a proposal to introduce 3 additional INSET days to support schools to prepare for the new Curriculum for Wales in the run up to its introduction in September 2022.
It is proposed that these days are provided one per year starting from the academic year 2019/20 and continuing until 2021/22.
They will be National INSET days run on the same day for all schools across the nation. The date of this Professional Learning INSET day will be set annually by the Welsh Ministers by issuing a letter to schools. The Welsh Government will provide the majority of the content for use during the INSET day and delivery will be on a local basis using interactive digital content.
The consultation on this proposal opened today and runs until May 1st. Click on the link below and have your say on whether you think this proposal will support schools to prepare for the new Curriculum for Wales effectively.

Why do we summarise official documents?
We believe we all have a responsibility to ensure our new Curriculum for Wales is the best that it can be. We also know that educating the next generation is a really tough job and it leaves little time to read or respond to official documentation. Our analyses aim to highlight key points to give teachers and leaders a starting point for further, deeper reading. Our aim is to support teachers and leaders to engage and have their say in the future of education in Wales.
