LSES Weekly Update
Exceptional things happen here!
Week of February 22-26
Principal's Message
Dear families,
Exceptional things are happening at LSES! Make sure to talk to your student about the things they are learning in school and review those concepts at home. Also, please review the activities happening this week. We hope to see you all this Friday at 6:00 for the fun night our amazing PTO and PAC have organized!
Have a wonderful week,
Carmen Brodniak
Lincoln Street Principal
A peek into the 6th grade...
The 6th grade got an exciting look at renewable energy at a PGE sponsored Mad Science assembly this week. The assembly had our students captivated as they watched some fantastic experiments and some were even able to participate in these experiments. Students learned about energy supply issues facing our planet, how to differentiate between renewable and non-renewable power sources and the importance of conserving energy. Along with the science lesson, students were reminded of the importance of being safe around electricity.
A Message From Your School Counselors Ms. Sifers & Ms. Szukalla:
This month we will begin going into classrooms to help students understand the differences between playful teasing, hurtful teasing, being mean, and bullying. Students will learn communication skills and techniques to help them become supportive friends and classmates. We will also talk about “tattling” versus “reporting”. Students are encouraged to report bullying to an adult (teacher, school counselor, parent, etc.) immediately. Our goal at LSES is to create a safe environment where all students can learn and grow. For more information on what you can do as a parent, check out: http://www.edutopia.org/blog/bullying-prevention-tips-teachers-parents-anne-obrien .
If you have any questions or concerns, please email, call, or stop by to talk with us!

On Friday, February 26 at 6:00PM, the PTO will be hosting a Posole dinner, loteria, raffle, and a bake sale. There will also be early bird shopping at our book fair in the library. This will be a fun, casual evening of good food and socializing for our school. Loteria is a Mexican version of bingo and its free! Dinner and dessert will be available for purchase at a low cost. The Raffle will have fun things to win and will be $1 per ticket. The Book Fair will officially begin the following week on February 29 at 7:15. We are still looking for volunteers to help at the book fair. If you are interested in helping, please sign up at: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f44abad2caa8-lincoln
