Rock Hill Review
October 11, 2020
Opening Up!
Thank you all for helping us have another GREAT week at Rock Hill and it was nice to have the dust settle on campus from the past two weeks with our increase in the number of Covid cases. I can't thank our students and staff enough who really stepped up, pulled together and got through probably the toughest three week span of my career in education. I also truly appreciate the outpouring of support you all have given us during this time. We have such a SPECIAL campus already in just nine short weeks of being open that I can't begin to imagine what this place will be like in 5 years. I'm keeping it short and sweet this week and just want to say THANK YOU for standing with us, showing what it truly means to be UNITED, and doing all you can to PROTECT THE ROCK! Go ROCK!! #ICSEEU

Tips for Staying Healthy at School
Avoid close contact with anyone- close contact = closer than 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) for more than 15 minutes. We make allowances at school for people wearing masks- but still please keep your distance- 3 feet minimum to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
*Tip-- If you can reach you arm out fully extended and touch the other person- you are too close.
Wear your mask at all times in public- covering your nose and mouth fully
Avoid touching your mask, face, mouth, nose and eyes
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
Please stay home when you are sick!
Please check the Daily online self-screener before coming to school or any PISD activities- if you answer yes to any of the questions, please stay home and respond to the screener. Click Rock Hill, answer the questions and submit. I will call you and discuss before you can come to campus.

Library Checkout and Return Process for Virtual Learners
Attendance Change Notes for 2nd Grading Period
Students who are in-person learners will be counted present only if they are physically in the class when the teacher takes attendance. Otherwise, they will be counted as being absent. Students who are not physically in class can still log in to the Google Classrooms and online class meetings for learning purposes, but they will be counted absent.
Students who are forced to quarantine by the school nurse due to COVID-19 protocols will automatically be switched to being a virtual learner during the mandatory quarantine period. For students who are forced to quarantine, but have an in-person only class(es), the student will have an excused absence with the code “E-PN”. Students under quarantine are responsible for all missed work and encouraged to communicate with their teachers. We will switch the student back to in-person learning at the end of quarantine.
Students who are virtual learners will be counted present when they login to the Google Classroom/Meet by the time the teacher takes attendance and they are to remain active for the class. Teachers will determine if the virtual student can turn off their microphone and/or their camera based on the needs of the lesson. Students who do not comply with the teacher’s directive for microphone/camera operation may be counted absent due to inactivity during the class. Virtual students who are enrolled in an in-person only class will continue to attend these classes in-person, as they have been.
Thank you for your help with this and please reach out if you have any questions.

Senior Spotlight: Tyler Trampas - Tight End/H Back
Tyler is a senior member of the Blue Hawk football team. This is his first year playing football after spending the previous three years as a member of the Prosper Lacrosse Team. He recently accepted a division one scholarship to attend Wagner College and play lacrosse. Rock Nation is incredibly excited for Tyler.
1. Why did you choose to come to Rock Hill for your senior year?
I decided to choose Rock Hill because I wanted to be apart of all the excitement and firsts at this high school.
2. What does it mean to be part of the Rock Hill community?
It’s important for me to join a family that represents my personal goals of hard work, leadership, and education.
3. What are your goals for this year?
My goals for this year are to get bigger, stronger, faster and experience new things.
4. What does it mean to be a member of the Rock Hill football team?
Being apart of the Rock Hill football program means being a part of a family. Our team is represented by our seven life skills that we all live by each day whether it be on the field or in the classroom. With my teammates I’m looking forward to help build a culture and watching our team grow throughout the season.
Teacher Spotlight: Kendra Lee - Varsity Cheerleading Coach And Honors English I Teacher
My husband and I grew up in Texas, but we were stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado with the Army when Rock Hill started hiring. I was looking for an opportunity to get back to Texas and close to my family. Thankfully this gorgeous school opened up and they still had some space for me!
2. What does it mean to be part of the Rock Hill community?
Rock Hill is like nothing I have ever been a part of. Every staff member has been so kind and welcoming because we are all looking out for each other. The leadership is extremely supportive, and I look forward working for our students each day.
3. What are you most looking forward to for football season?
Football in Texas is a lifestyle. I'm really looking forward to having our cheerleaders under the Friday Night Lights and seeing them have fun. They keep me humble, and I'm blessed to be their coach for sure.
Special Thank you to all of the seniors on the football team, band, cheerleading squad, drill team, training staff, and managers for choosing to attend Rock Hill for their last year of high school. What you are building here will impact future generations of Blue Hawks. Thank you for choosing to take a risk and and establish a legacy at Rock Hill High School.

Parent and Guardians,
We are so excited to be a part of the opening of Rock Hill High School and laying the foundation for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). July started with a great boost with an amazing membership drive. As parents and guardians, we believe that we all have similar goals. We want our children and the students attending Rock Hill to laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and to feel the support of those around them. PTO is here with the students and teachers in mind. Every decision PTO makes is with the focus of each and every student and teacher. We encourage you to join the PTO and stay connected with all upcoming PTO sponsored events.
Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to use via email at rockhillhighpto@gmail.com.
