A message from the Superintendent
October 29, 2020
Dear Mounds View Public Schools community,
Today, the COVID-19 case counts in Ramsey County were reported at 31 cases per 10,000 residents. Until recently, school districts understood that if case counts reached 30, distance learning should go into effect for secondary schools and blended learning can continue for elementary schools.
However earlier this week, school districts received a communication from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) clarifying its guidance around shifting between learning models. This recent communication stated that school districts must continue to work with their regional support team but should also consider local data to better understand how community rates of COVID-19 cases impact the local schools.
I want you to know that we are currently working with MDE, the Minnesota Department of Health and our regional support team to better understand what this new guidance means for Mounds View Public Schools. We are hoping to have answers in the next few days. For now, secondary schools will remain in blended learning and activities will continue until we can clarify the expectations regarding the learning model for our secondary students.
As always, the health and safety of our students, families and staff remains our top priority. Look for more information as soon as we’re able to provide it.
Sincerely,
Chris Lennox
Superintendent
