Bullying Resource Page
We now have a "Bullying Resources" page on our school website. It lists the different ways in which students can report bullying issues. The newest way to report issues is through a Google Form linked on this page. The form goes directly to Mrs. Brooks, who will be in touch soon after receiving the report.
Here is the link:
https://www.st.louisschool.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=1478055&type=d&pREC_ID=1801552
We deeply care about our students and want them to feel supported when bullying issues arise. Please encourage your students to report any issues they have with fellow classmates so we can help.

Coca-Cola Give
The school received a Wal-Mart bag full of Coke/Sprite caps and codes this past week.... Thank you! It was worth about $30. Please keep saving the codes from brands below. This includes 12 pk , 24 pk cartons and individual caps on bottles. Each cap or box code is worth money. There is now a collection container at the concession stand, so drop your cap in the container when you finish your drink at a home game. If you are with family and friends over the holidays, please ask them to save too! Every little bit helps!

World Kindness Day and Germs
Germs
It's that time of year again! When it starts to get cold we talk about germs. In Science class today we discussed germs and what they are. Using "Glitterbug" powder, I pretended to sneeze then went around and shook hands, high-fived and patted shoulders. Those students then wiped their mouths, shook hands with others, high-fived each other, brushed hair out of their faces, etc.
We then used a black light to show where the germs had spread. They saw how one sneeze could spread germs to the whole class! After that we talked about the correct way to wash hands and why it's so important. The Kinders loved it!
World Kindness Day
In honor of World Kindness Day our Kinders enjoyed making "Kindness Clouds". Mrs. Farmer had strips of paper with various "kind" words the students could use to describe another classmate. They then attached the strips to their clouds. As you can see from the picture below, this activity was enjoyed by all!
Families Helping Families
For more than 25 years, Families Helping Families (FHF) has brought together a community of local churches and organizations at Christmas time, united in one simple mission, to help our friends and neighbors most in need. National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is taking the lead this year in organizing our efforts at SLS.
We are grateful that not only are we dedicated to excellence in academics at SLS, we're also dedicated to the teachings of Jesus Christ. We talk about blessings and gratitude in our classroom. We teach our children to not just understand the Word of God, but how to truly live that Word. We frequently discuss how we are called to serve others and the importance of giving back.
We thought a great representation of our values and the lessons that we are teaching at SLS would be to participate as a school in Families Helping Families. The school’s goal is to purchase a book for every child in the program that will have gifts distributed by St. Louis Catholic Church.
If you would like to contribute to purchasing the books that will be a gift from St. Louis School, please send $2 or $3 with your child (in a marked envelope Families Helping Families Books) to turn in to their homeroom teacher by 12/4.
NJHS will also be conducting REINDEER GAMES as a new fundraiser the week after Thanksgiving to raise additional money to cover the cost of the projected $1,000.00 worth of books. More to come on the REINDEER GAMES in our school newsletter and online.
We greatly appreciate your support for this great cause! For questions, please contact Jill Weberding #865-250-5908 or Janet Wilson at jwilson@st.louisschool.org
Sincerely,
Families Helping Families Committee
STEAM
Last week's accomplishment (in honor of Vetern's Day) for STEAM was to make a replica of the American Flag. They worked hard on their designs and implemented them perfectly! They are working on learning the steps to solve their Rubik's Cubes and are well on their way to figuring out how they work.

Powerschool Reports
They're BACK!
The weekly digest email feature from Powerschool stopped functioning last school year. We believe we have finally corrected the issue. Please feel free to go in and set this up via stlouisschool.powerschool.com if you haven't already. You can choose a weekly email that sends a summary of grades and attendance, and choose the frequency. There is also a convenient little checkbox to apply to all of your students, and you can add mom or dad in the additional email address section. This is so great and I'm glad we got it back up and running for our families. If you have any questions regarding Powerschool accounts please contact Mrs. Riedeman. jriedeman@st.louisschool.org.
Thank you,

IMPORTANT CHANGE OF DATE/TIME/LOCATION FOR BOAR'S HEAD FESTIVAL!!!
Boar’s Head Festival
FROM: BATESVILLE AREA ARTS COUNCIL
A cherished community tradition, the Boar’s Head Festival will be returning to the Sister’s Chapel in Oldenburg at 7 pm on Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th, reports Batesville Area Arts Council Publicity Chair Tina Longstreth. A presentation of English traditions coming to life, the Friday and Saturday shows will act as perfect book ends for Oldenburg’s Holidays Under the Spires, to be held all day on Saturday, December 7th. “This community performance is the perfect complement to a lovely holiday event.”
This year, the festival will be presented with a few updates, according to Event Chair, Regina Siefert. “My co-chairs, Amber Cochran, Bill Rethlake and I, felt the BHF needed to be refreshed, so we dug up the original script and did a few rewrites…It didn’t flow as well as we thought it could. We are pleased with the end result and the addition of a dance component. The audience will appreciate the timeless carols sung throughout the Festival, the sing-along at the end, and the explanation of traditions from English Renaissance, some so timeless that they are still common today. And of course, the beautiful period costumes always make a splash.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring the whole family to this freewill offering event. Space is limited and seating is not reserved. The Boar’s Head Festival is great way to put you in the Christmas spirit. Music Director Bill Rethlake adds, “It's fun to be part of something so many people enjoy starting their Christmas season with… Sister's Chapel gives the Boar's Head Festival such a reverent atmosphere - I love it.”
Attendees are also invited to come early on Saturday the 7th to enjoy the many offerings at Holidays Under the Spires. This Christmas extravaganza begins with breakfast with Santa, and features specials throughout all the shops and restaurants in Oldenburg, a craft fair, horse-drawn trolley rides, and Christmas choirs and performances in the Chapel.
