A Message from Dr. Connery

Dear Simpson Elementary Families,

Happy March! It was wonderful to see so many of you at parent-teacher conferences last month. I am confident that you found the time you spent with your child’s teacher helpful. I am also excited to see that many of you completed the Results-based Evaluation System Survey that was sent this past February via GCPS School Messenger. This was an opportunity to hear from all of our school stakeholders with your input and feedback! I thank you all in advance for your support. Have a wonderful month, and as always, don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of assistance.

Proud to be your principal,

Dr. Connery

Black History Superstar Sessions

We want to give an outstanding superstar "thank you" to all of our Black History Month Superstar Session Presenters. We enjoyed learning about African Americans who made contributions to society in medicine, journalism, government and law. This was a wonderful interactive opportunity via ZOOM to have our 4th and 5th graders ask questions and learn from leaders in our community. Again, on behalf of Simpson Elementary, we thank you so much for your time and for bringing real-world experiences to our classrooms! ~ Dr. Connery

Judge Veronica Cope, Gwinnett County Court Judge

Thank you to all of our Simpson Superstars who helped us kick-off Black History Month by honoring the baseball legend, Hank Aaron.

A Reminder from Nurse Norris

Happy March! Spring is almost here!

Please remember to follow these important guidelines so we can continue to have a safe, healthy and fun school year!

Please keep your child home if they have any of the COVID-19 symptoms:

-Fever of 100.4 or above -headache -sore throat

-cough -loss of taste or smell -congestion or runny nose

-fatigue -nausea or vomiting -diarrhea

-shortness of breath -muscle or body aches

If a student has symptoms consistent with those of COVID-19 while at school, they will be sent to the isolation room and you will be notified to pick them up immediately. We will be evaluating suspected cases on a case by case basis according to the Department of Public Health guidelines for when they can return to school.

The clinic is in need of boys and girls pants in all sizes. If you have any old pants to donate, please send them in.

If your child has medication that must be taken at school (inhalers, epi-pens, etc), please call the clinic at 770-417-2405 to schedule an appointment for medication drop off. All medications MUST be brought in by a parent. Students are not allowed to bring medications to school. Forms that need to be completed for medication and health plans are on the Simpson website on the clinic site:

Calling All Volunteers for '21-'22 PTA Committees

The PTA Nominating Committee was approved at the February PTA meeting. They will be working on filling PTA positions for the 2021-2022 school year in the next month, as all board and committee head positions need to be approved at the last General PTA Meeting for this school year. Serving in one of these positions is a great way to have an impact on our school and its programs.

Here are a few of the positions we need volunteers for:

  • Fall Fundraiser (Charleston Wrap) Committee Chairs
  • Class Coordinator Liaison Shadow

Visit our website to see all the amazing programs and events our PTA coordinates and to see your donations at work.
