In addition, as we draw near to the start of school, here are a few items to keep in mind:
- Office is closed to the public until July 31st. At that time our regular office hours will resume. Office staff is working to prepare for the school year, and you are always welcome to call if needed.
- New Family Night – *** Date revision: Wednesday, August 2nd. (5:45-6:30) If you are new to Boone Meadow, did not attend Kindergarten Round-up, and/or haven’t been in the building, please mark your calendar on Wednesday evening, August 2nd for an orientation to Boone Meadow. This is for newly enrolled families. We will meet in the cafeteria at 5:45 for a brief information session.

New to Boone Meadow
Will Doublestein - Music
Hello, Boone Meadow Families -
My name is Will Doublestein, and I grew up in Indianapolis with a mom and a dad and two older brothers who all loved music. I too found great enjoyment in listening to and performing music, and I eventually went to Ball State to become a teacher. I wanted to make a career of spreading the joy found in music to kids.
Before coming to Boone Meadow, I spent the past five years working as an elementary school music teacher in Brownsburg. I'm married to my wonderful wife, Katrina, and we have a one and a half year old named Ryder. As a family, we love going on adventures and spending time with family and friends.
I am looking forward to being a part of the Boone Meadow community.
Callie Jonker - Kindergarten Teacher
Hello Boone Meadow Families!
I am beyond thrilled to be joining the Zionsville team this upcoming school year as a Kindergarten teacher. I am a Kalamazoo, Michigan native and recently moved to Indianapolis after getting married this past February.
I attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. I had the privilege of teaching preschool for a full year and subbing in many different schools, including a long term substitute position here at Boone Meadow. I am enjoying Indiana with my husband and our new Golden Retriever puppy, Finley. We love biking and exploring all of the great areas around us!
I am excited for the adventures ahead and the opportunity to serve the Zionsville community! I look forward to meeting many of you soon!
Lauren Kersey - Assistant Principal
Dear BME Families,
I am filled with humility and gratitude to be introducing myself to you as the new Assistant Principal at Boone Meadow. I come to Zionsville after spending five years teaching in Noblesville Schools at Noble Crossing Elementary. While there, I served as the math lead teacher, inquiry lead teacher, and as a 3rd and 4th grade classroom teacher. Most recently, I completed an MBA in Educational Leadership at University of Indianapolis as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow.
Prior to becoming an educator, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business at Indiana University and worked in several corporate settings as a marketing developer, training and development team leader, and project management specialist. My passion has always been working with youth, however, and one of my favorite jobs remains being a soccer coach! It was this love of working with children that led me to return to school at IUPUI for my Master’s in Education.
Aside from my role as teacher, educator, and school leader, I am also a wife and mother. My husband and I reside in Carmel with our two young boys - Walker and Kellan {ages 5 and 3} - as well as a rambunctious puppy named Rocky!
In this next chapter, I am thrilled to be serving the children and families of Boone Meadow, and look forward to building new relationships while creating new and exciting possibilities together!
All my best,
Lauren Kersey
Sarah Kiel - Second Grade Teacher
Hello, my name is Sarah Kiel and I am so excited to be joining the second grade team and BME family!
I was born and raised in Fishers, Indiana, and went to Indiana University where I double majored in Elementary Education and Special Education. Upon graduating in December of 2012, I accepted a third grade teaching position at Pleasant View Elementary here in Zionsville! I have spent the last 5 years at Pleasant View teaching both third and fourth grade. PVE holds a special place in my heart, but I am excited to begin a new adventure here at BME. Relationships with families and students are what drive me in the classroom, so I am eager to meet you all and get to know you.
When I am not in the classroom, I love to travel and be outdoors. This past summer I visited the Netherlands, Ireland, United Kingdom and Spain. Besides traveling, I enjoy being on the Monon, the lake, or exploring trails with my Goldendoodle, Lola.
I also love to spend time with family and friends. My parents still reside in Fishers and my brother got married last summer in Turks and Caicos. It is great to have them all so close and be able to see them often! A fun fact is that I also love flowers! This summer, I spent two days a week working at Blooms, a local florist in Zionsville. It is a fun way to be creative and spread happiness to others!
I look forward to meeting you all and the journey ahead at BME. I can already tell it is going to be a great one!
Melissa Tuttila - Kindergarten Teacher
Hello to my Boone Meadow Families!
Many of you already know me as this will be my fifth year working in Zionsville. However, I am extremely excited to take on my new role as a Kindergarten teacher at Boone Meadow!
I graduated from Indiana University with my Bachelor’s degree in Education. Following graduation, my first four years of teaching were for Universal Preschool. Many of those years were right here at Boone Meadow. In addition to working for Zionsville, I also enjoy volunteering at my church’s children's ministry, where I work with 2 year olds. Although I graduation from Westfield High School, I was born in New Jersey, and moved to Indiana when I was young.
Spending time with my family and friends is one of my favorite things to do. I am married, and have a son named Travis. I also have a cat named Cash and a dog named Kanga. Other activities I enjoy are watching my little one grow, traveling, going to the movies, swimming, and enjoying anything outside.
I am so excited to embark on this adventure and I am looking forward to this school year.
Kathryn Watts - First Grade
Hello, my name is Mrs. Kathryn Watts, and I am absolutely thrilled to be teaching first grade at Boone Meadow Elementary.
Although I grew up in New York on Long Island, I now call Zionsville my home. I graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for over 15 years, and cannot imagine doing anything else. I started my educational career in New York before moving to Virginia, and most recently, Indiana. For the past four years I taught first grade in MSD Pike Township at College Park.
My wonderful husband, Damon, is an Assistant Principal in MSD Lawrence Township. We have a daughter named Gabrielle, and she is very excited to start Kindergarten at Boone Meadow. In my spare time I enjoy reading, baking cupcakes, and traveling. This summer we visited Great Wolf Lodge and won a ton of tickets.
I excited to embark on this journey in our Boone Meadow community!

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS
State law stipulates that the medical records of children on file at school show the required immunizations have been completed by the 20th day of the school year. That day is September 5, 2017. Information regarding immunizations requirements for 2017-2018 can be found here.
Parents of children whose immunizations are not up-to-date should contact their health care provider or the Boone County Health Department to schedule an appointment for the necessary immunizations. Some pharmacies also carry the necessary vaccines.
If parents object to immunizations, a written objection must be on file in the school office by September 5, 2017. This must be updated yearly. Children who do not have up to date vaccination records by that date will not be allowed to return to school until the proper immunization information is on file. Students who have appointments with their health care provider after Sept. 5th 2017, must present proof of the scheduled appointment in order to remain in school.
Medication Pick up in the Health Clinic
We are asking for your assistance in picking up any medication that your child currently may have in the health care clinic by May 26, 2017. The clinic is open on school days from 8:00-4:00.
For the safety of our students, all medication must be transported to and from school by an parent/guardian. Any medication that is left in the clinic will be discarded by St. Vincent health professionals.
Please contact Amy Deinlein in the clinic with any questions or concerns.

Volunteers and Visitor Background Checks
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VOLUNTEERS

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR VISITORS
During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign-in at the front office.
