The Siegrist Star
May 22, 2023
Happy Friday, Siegrist Families!
This week we have been able to celebrate the end of the year in many ways. In this week’s newsletter we have highlighted many of these events. Please CLICK HERE to follow us and see more pictures capturing all the fun this week at Siegrist.
MRA Community Survey:
This week I am also asking for a few minutes of your time to support us in getting your feedback. It is that time of year for ALL in our community to engage in our MRA Leader in Me Survey. This survey is an important guide for us and our work within Leader In Me and our Building Improvement Plan.
Our goal is to have at least 250 families complete our Community Survey. Last year we only had 22 families complete. I know we have a BIG goal this year. Our goal is BIG because your feedback is important for us as we partner with you in serving and supporting all of our Siegrist Leaders. Please CLICK HERE!!!!!! to complete the MRA
Thank you for your partnership and all you do in supporting ALL within our Siegrist community.
Best,
Mrs. Johna-Kaye Sutton
Siegrist Grades 3-5 MAP Testing Complete!
A HUGE thank you parents for ensuring your students were in attendance during MAP testing and proactively coordinating/communicating with teachers, school counselors and the office staff. It takes a village and our combined partnership supports student success.

DQ Trip
MAP Testing is complete! Because our students worked so hard preparing and taking the MAP tests, PTA paid for the students to go to Dairy queen for a special treat. Thank you PTA!
Siegrist Running Academy
Our Siegrist Running Academy participated in the annual Northland Mother's Day 5K. We had 20 runners participate out of our 40 running academy students. Practices were held on Mondays and Wednesdays for 7 weeks leading up to the race. The top 3 finishers on Saturday in the 14 and under boys division were Elias Armstrong (1st), Joe Frost (2nd), and Luke Smith (3rd). The top 3 finishers in the 14 and under girls division were Riley Crawford (1st), Marlee Webster (3rd), and Syndey Johnson (5th). Great job everyone!

4th Grade Rocket Day
What a Blast!!! Fourth grade classes at Siegrist Elementary held their annual Rocket Day! Rocket Day is a day of scientific inquiry including bottle-rocket launching and various experiments. Students learn about force & motion, matter & energy, and more! Thank you to the Central Platte Fire Department for assisting students with their launch!
5th Grade Step Up Day
The fifth graders had the opportunity to tour the Platte County Middle School and learn a bit more about what to expect when they make the leap to being middle school students next year. We are going to miss them!
4th & 5th Grade Choir
The Siegrist 4th and 5th grade choir ended their year by singing at the celebration for the district's new teachers. The students thanked them, through song, for finding their voice and helping their students find their voices. (8th habit- Leader in Me). They also wished them a happy summer and Amani Utupe (peace and courage) on their way.
Great job this year Siegrist choir! We hope to see all of the 4th graders back in choir next year as leaders. Good luck to our 5th grade choir members that are headed to middle school! We will miss you! We (I) Wish You Music along your way!

Online Re-Enrollment of Existing K-11th Grade Students
If you haven't already done so, please complete online re-enrollment forms and electronic proof of residency by Wednesday, May 24. This will be completed in a new user-friendly student information system called PowerSchool. Click here to first create a PowerSchool account, then follow the steps to complete the New Student Registration 2023-2024 forms for each returning student. If you need assistance, please contact us.
Field Day is quickly approaching on Monday, May 22. Please make sure your child wears "old" tennis shoes as the field may be wet (especially the am session). It would be a good idea to bring a change of shoes and even clothes "just in case" your child gets muddy to change into after field day. If the weather is sunny, be sure to apply sunscreen at home. Hats, sunglasses and water bottles are welcomed too but your child is responsible for keeping track (put their names on these items) and carrying these items not classroom teachers. Water will be provided throughout the stations too. We are looking forward to a fun-filled day.

Thank you skating volunteers!
To all the Kindergarten, first grade and second grade parents who volunteered to help with our two week roller skating unit we just want to say THANK YOU!! It was a first for us, so having extra adults to help make sure our classes could run quickly and smoothly was truly a blessing. All the students were able to get a lot of time skating, and we couldn't have done it without you! Thank you again!

☀️Last Day of School is May 26, 2023
Friday, May 26, 2023 will be our last day of school, and will be a 3-hour early dismissal for students.
Marching Through May….Finishing Strong!
May is here, school is near the end, but help us keep the students in school, engaged and participating as there are lots of final assessments, MAP testing (Grades 3-5), fun activities, field day, transition days and SO MUCH MORE! Absenteeism is a lost opportunity to learn. We can’t afford to think of absenteeism as merely a lack of compliance with school rules. Siegrist attendance data continues to be fantastic and above the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) goal of 90% of the students in attendance 90% of the time. See our data below….THANK YOU for having your student in attendance and finishing the year strong with us!
