Learwood Middle School Newsletter
August 2017
Welcome Back!
I hope all of you are having a wonderful summer break! Enjoy the remainder of the summer with your family and friends because school is right around the corner. We will resume school on Tuesday August 22, 2017 at 8:00 AM.
The biggest fear our incoming 7th grade students and their parents have is about lockers. Therefore, August 15th and 16th will be our 7th grade locker/schedule days, where students will be able to pick up their schedules, walk the building, and learn how to use their locker. Teachers and 8th grade student volunteers will be present to help on those days; please follow the set schedule. Our 8th grade students will be able to pick up their schedule on August 17th. If you are unable to attend these days, your student’s schedule will be distributed in homeroom on the first day of school. If you wish to get your student’s schedule prior to the start of school, please contact our main office (440-933-8142) to make arrangements. Homeroom lists will be posted inside the main doors on the first day of school. We will try not to make changes once your child receives his/her schedule; however some circumstances dictate that we do so.

Our 7th grade Open House will be held on Wednesday, August 23 from 6:00-7:30 PM and the 8th grade Open House will be on Thursday August 24, from 6:00-7:30 PM.
On Open House dates, student schedules will be made available. Staff members will be on hand in the hallways to answer your questions. Parents will meet in large groups in the Auditorium, Cafeteria, and Main Gym, depending on which Team your child is on. The Essentials Teachers will first speak to each group, which will be followed up by the Core Teachers presenting course information.
Please review the information in this newsletter as you prepare to return to school for the 2017-2018 school year. It is essential to review and complete the Info Snap information on the second page of this Newsletter. All information must be submitted by the deadline of August 15, 2017. All school fees must be up to date in order to receive your student’s schedule and locker. If you have any questions about school fees, please contact the main office.
In order to reduce classroom disruptions, anything that is dropped off for a student will be labeled and placed on a shelf in the main office. Students will need to stop in the main office during their Lunch/Support period or after school to pick up their materials. Please share this process with your student.
Please pay close attention to our monthly events, and encourage your student to participate in Learwood activities to get the most out of their school career. Our Fall Sports teams have already started to practice and will soon be competing. On September 29th, we will be hosting our Fall Dance at Learwood from 7:00-9:00 PM. If you need to meet with me, your guidance counselor, or the assistant principal please do not hesitate to contact us. We suggest you call the main office to request a meeting with our staff. This way we can better prepare a time to meet. We look forward to this year being an excellent one for both students and parents alike.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vishtasp Nuggud

Info Snap
The Info Snap system is a secure and green process, which allows us to verify all student demographic, emergency and medical information for your child prior to the start of the new school year. The system will also allow you to electronically sign the annual permission forms for school district policies. Please complete this REQUIRED information and submit no later than Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
Please watch for an email with the subject line Back to School Forms which explains the process.
You must have a PowerSchool Parent account to access InfoSnap (https://psal.nccohio.org/public/).
