Language Arts
Reading
Historical Fiction
We have read a bunch of historical fiction that goes with the Revolutionary War. Obviously, it's my favorite. We are going to begin George Washington Socks this coming week. Please look for the book to be coming home because students will be reading it at home and at school.
Writing
We will continue with personal narrative and work on telling "small moment" stories. We will be discussing author's craft (writing hooks, endings, keeping small moments small, etc.).
Grammar
We are STILL reviewing verbs...
Verbs- We are still reviewing verbs.
action verbs, linking verbs, helping verbs, progressive verbs, and verb tenses
We did not have our quiz. We will have it Friday, March 14.
Word Study
We have pasted our spelling lists in finally. Sorry, it hasn't been a priority with everything else we've been learning. So, here's a repeat:
Spelling List- lived, living, rattled, rattling, studied, studying, traveled, traveling, changed, changing, appeared, appearing, raced, racing, hoped, hoping, wrapped, wrapping
Greek and Latin Roots -
spec/spect= watch, look at
spectacles- glasses used to look at things
spectator- someone who watches
respect- to look up to someone
inspect- to look into something
spectrum- a range that is looked at

Fractions
What are fractions? What are decimal fractions? How do they compare? How do I add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals?
Quiz- Friday, March 14
Please keep reviewing multiplication facts. If your child does not know their multiplication facts, they will struggle with fractions!

Can sound travel through solids, liquids, and gases?
Social Studies
The American Revolution
Who were significant people that made a difference in our history during this time?
What battles made a difference in the war?
How did geography affect the outcome of each battle?
