Oak Ridge Family Focus
April 14th Edition
State Testing: Week 2
Our students did very well completing their state Math assessments last week. They were focused, worked hard, and did their best!
We will continue this week with state testing in English Language Arts for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, and also Science for 5th graders only. Please see our parent letter for more information regarding the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR).
Here is our schedule:
- Tuesday, April 16th: ELA Test 1
- Wednesday, April 17th: ELA Test 2
- Thursday, April 18th: Science Test (5th grade only)
If your child will be absent on any of these days, please call the absentee line at 708-598-5743 to let us know.
Please remember, students need:
- A good night's sleep each night.
- A healthy breakfast each morning (Oak Ridge offers breakfast everyday!).
- A strong start to their day by arriving at school by 8:15am so they are ready to go.
We are excited for our students to continue to show everything they have learned this year!
Plush Horse Event This Thursday
This Thursday, we will be celebrating the end of IAR testing at Plush Horse from 4-9pm. Stop by for some ice cream and to see your friends! Present this flyer so 20% of the proceeds will go towards the PTA and fun activities for our students! We will also be sending home flyers this week. The weather should be close to 70 degrees so it will be a good night for ice cream. We hope to see you there!
Chocolate Chase 5k Race This Saturday
Come out and support our Running Club students as they finish their season with the Chocolate Chase 5k Race. The race begins at the Palos Heights Recreation Center (6601 W. 127th Street) at 9:00am. Parking is available at the Recreation Center or at Independence Junior High School (directly south of the Recreation Center).
A BIG Thank You!
Back in February, our Student Council teamed up with the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation to raise money for children undergoing cancer treatments. We wanted to thank you for all your support and generous donations. The Student Council was able to raise about $1,500 in money and gift cards for these children. Please see the letter from the Treasure Chest Foundation thanking everyone for their support. Oak Ridge continues to make a positive impact on our community, and it is due to your continued support and dedication. From all of us at Oak Ridge, we are truly grateful for you. Thank you.
Have a wonderful week!
