1. Nebraska Career Connections - offers many different ways for students and parents to search for career information. There are also different inventories or surveys for students to take to guide students in their career information.
2. Education Quest - Education Quest is a non profit organization whose purpose is to help schools and families find college information. They provide many different tools to help. I do want to highlight two:
- Countdown2College - parents and students can sign up for emails to update them and provide suggestions for them as they prepare for college.
- College Profiles - This tool allows students to select different criteria they are looking for in a college. Then, College Profiles will provide a list of colleges that fit that criteria. You can then click on the name of the college and find all kinds of information about that college.
Another really good way to explore careers is to do a Job Shadow. A job shadow is where you would actually go to a place and observe someone doing their job. We can set up Job Shadows for you in the counseling center. See your counselor if interested.

The Coolidge
By way of quick background, The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year, merit scholarship that may be used by recipients for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States. Any high school junior who plans on enrolling in college in the fall of 2019 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (unfortunately current high school seniors are not eligible to apply).
Coolidge Scholars are selected based on three main criteria:
- Primary criterion: Academic excellence;
- Secondary criterion: Interest in public policy and an appreciation of the values President Coolidge championed;
- Secondary criterion: Humility and service.
The scholarship application, along with additional information, can be accessed on our scholarship site: www.coolidgescholars.org. Please note the deadline is 5:00 PM EST, January 24, 2018. If you have any questions regarding the scholarship, the Coolidge Scholars Program can be reached by email at coolidgescholars@coolidgefoundation.org or by phone at (802) 672-3389 ext. 114.
