The Spencer Scoop
The Amazing Spencer Elementary: November 5, 2021
Do Not Send Your Child to School If...
If your child has any illness symptoms such as,
Fever over 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
Shortness of breath
Other early symptoms, including chills, body aches, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, headache, diarrhea, and nausea/ vomiting.
Other reasons to remain home:
If someone in your home has recently tested for COVID-19, keep everyone home until the results are in. If a positive test is revealed, everyone in-home needs to remain home for the full ten days.
Then, please call 810-299-4350 and let us know. You'll also want to complete the self-reporting link. The sooner this is done, the sooner Mr.Renner can process the paperwork.
The health department will notify Mr.Renner and share with him a return date for your child.
Please be diligent and do your part to keep all at Spencer safe.
Reminders About Drop Off Procedures
Do not drop off your child before 8:40 a.m. The classrooms will not be opened before this time.
When entering the kiss-n-go area, have your child and their belongings ready to exit the car. Remain in your vehicle and have your child exit from the passenger side. Children and adults should never get out of the driver’s side while in the kiss-n-go lanes.
Please pull all the way forward and then stop to let your child out.
After dropping off your child, wait for the cars in front of you to exit. Do not try to pass, as it puts students in danger.
After 9 a.m. the kiss-n-go lane will be closed and you must park and walk your child to the main office to sign-in.
One last thing...if you are dropping your child off after the bell rings, you MUST walk them up to the building and sign them in on the iPad outside the office. NO student should be walking up to the building unattended by an adult.

The Talent Show will be moving to an entirely virtual event! Auditions are now open! If your student would like to participate in the Talent Show, please see the attached flyer for details. We are asking for video auditions to be submitted by November 8th to SpencerShowcase@gmail.com. THESE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE THEIR FINAL ACT - so take your time! Selections will be made and announced on November 12th. We will be posting all submissions online on November 17th for viewing, along with a Google Form to fill out for voting on your favorite acts. The top 3 will receive small prize from the PTO. Submission of a Google form will mark your student "in attendance" in order to earn their Talent Show pin! More details next week.
Turn Mr. Renner into a Sundae Day
Today was the BIG DAY! Mrs. Phillips' 1st graders got to turn Mr. Renner into an ice cream sundae! Each student was able to dump sticky, gooey goodness all over their favorite Principal. Look for the link below to view the fun!
Book of the Month Club
The Book of the Month books are delayed! October, November, AND December books have been ordered, however, we are seeing huge wait times on deliveries. We are expecting the October books to arrive by the end of November, November books by the middle of December, and the December books will likely not arrive until January. Please be patient and know that we will get these to your students as soon as we receive them!
Our next PTO Meeting is next Tuesday, November 9 at 4:00pm. Childcare will be provided. Hope to see you there!

Note From the Counselor
Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! I have very much enjoyed our start to a great school year. I spent the month of September visiting classrooms for a social-emotional lesson centered around forming connections with peers and strengthening friendships. I have also increased visits with individual students needing social-emotional support. I am working hard to add some peer support groups by the end of the month! As the year progresses, I am continuing to connect with classroom teachers for referrals for students who are struggling or may need additional support. If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.
We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact your counselor with any questions or concerns that you may have, and Mrs. Fox or Mrs. McKiddy will do their best to support your child.
