Panther Pause

26 years of Pride at Colleyville Heritage High School

08.06.21

Hello Panther Family,

I hope you’ve all enjoyed a wonderful and safe summer! We are so excited to see you all back in the building and have been planning vigilantly for your return. We know that for so many of you this will be your first time on campus in almost two years. With that, there may be some level of angst or anxiety, and we understand that. Please know that we are here to welcome you with open arms and we will continue to strive to make this a place where you feel loved, supported, and empowered to achieve at high levels in your coursework and various activities. We are Panthers - it’s what we do!

While there is no mask mandate in place, I will be wearing mine. You are more than welcome to do so, if you wish. We have much work to do in the face of the virus, but I am hopeful that we will continue to do great things despite the challenges before us. We’ve done it before and we’ll do it again.

As we embark upon the next leg of our journey, I hope you find hope in recognizing just how resilient we are. We are capable of great and mighty things. This is going to be an exciting school year. More information will be coming soon as we get closer to the start of school, but we wanted you to have some of this information asap.

I look forward to seeing you all very soon!

Sincerely,

Dr. James E. Whitfield

CHHS Principal

Back-to-School Tech Check

GCISD students and families are getting excited for the 2021-2022 school year! Before you return on Wednesday, August 18, what are some steps you can take to ensure a successful start to the year? The first is a Back-to-School Tech Check!

Each year, GCISD technology staff see an influx of devices that need repair during the first week of school. This can lead to students missing valuable time in class in which their device is needed. To ensure students start the year in the best possible way, please complete the simple steps of GCISD's Back-to-School Tech Check.

2021-2022 Free Meals Update

For the 2021-2022 school year, students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade, and also at Collegiate Academy, will be eligible to receive a free healthy meal every day at school. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals; however, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year. While a free and reduced application is not required for free meals, GCISD will process socioeconomic forms to determine student status which may provide other benefits such as discounts on bus services, academic testing fees, school fees, and college applications. In addition to these discounts, local community services and free hotspots for internet services are available.

Students that attend Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School must apply to determine eligibility to receive free or reduced-price meals. The application may be accessed at www.schoollunchapp.com. Questions may be emailed to child.nutrition@gcisd.net.
