Message from Principal Clara Lee
It was a pleasure to meet some of you during our school LCAP meeting. At that meeting we talked about what our school was doing well and what we could improve. If you missed the meeting, you can still share your input below. Just click on the survey link and take a few minutes to fill it out.
One of the celebrations I would like to share with you was that our staff were proud of the fact that we have a very positive school climate here. I shared with our students that this is due to the fact that everyone makes a conscious choice to be positive, even when things don't always go the way we think they should.
An area that we as a staff would like to improve is our understanding of trauma and how that effects our students. Trauma has been getting a lot of attention in education lately. The effects of trauma, such as experiencing an act of violence or losing a close family member, can present itself as inattention, avoidance and sometimes in acting out. It's important as educators that we understand the root of children's behaviors so that we are able to address the causes rather than merely disciplining based on the visible symptoms.
On another topic, we as a city are facing some important voting measures that will directly impact our schools and student growth. I encourage you to research the upcoming measures and provide your input by voting!
Finally, I want to thank our 783 families here at Kolb for taking the extra care to drive safely and watch for our pedestrians every day. I know it requires a bit of patience, and it is frustrating when there isn't sufficient coverage for the cross walks and parking lots. Out of the 100+ days that we have been in school this year, we have only had a handful of complaints about the double parking and driving. That means at least 780 parents are doing a fantastic job of being considerate and following rules whenever possible to make sure that all our students are safe every day. Thank you for that.
Sincerely,
Clara Lee

LCAP Survey for Parental Input
Dear DUSD Parents and Families,
The State of California requires that all school districts in California develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). All districts in the state are beginning to develop a new LCAP for the next three years. The LCAP, a critical part of the Local Control Funding Formula, requires school districts to gather input from students, parents, staff, and community members to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the district. Districts must also use data from the California School Dashboard to determine funding priorities, which are based on the eight State priorities. The State priorities are:
Basic Services
Implementation of State Standards
Parent Involvement
Student Achievement
Student Engagement
School Climate
Course Access
Student Outcomes
Dublin Unified wants your input. We are asking parents and community members to give their input by completing the Parent Survey by clicking on the link below. Your responses will help DUSD set priorities and goals for the next three years.
