Information and Updates
Grades 4-6 - Week of January 10th, 2022
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Well it looks like winter weather has officially arrived! This last week brought some cold temperatures and by the forecast, they are sticking around for a while. When it is at all possible, we take the students out for recess for some necessary movement and fun! Please be sure that your child dresses appropriately for this time of year. If you need support getting winter gear (jacket, hat, gloves), please reach out to Mrs. Szabo or Mrs. Ray.
The first week back from break was certainly eventful. We had a good old fashioned snow day, our first Flexible Instructional Day (FID), and many students/staff were sick or quarantined due to Covid-19. These next weeks may continue to throw some curveballs our way but, as always, we will get through them as an AGCS family. Teachers will continue to include asynchronous work on Schoology for your child to complete during their absence. If your child is feeling well enough to do the work, it should be completed the day of their absence(s). This will help them to be ready to join the class where they are upon their return. Should your child not be feeling well, the focus should be on feeling better and getting healthy! Once your child returns to school, they have the number of days they were out to complete any missed work. After that time has elapsed, the assignments will no longer be graded. Please be in contact with your child's teacher(s) during absences so he/she knows if your child is struggling with any of the material. This will help them provide other material or plan for supporting them once they return. As you can imagine, the number of absences and the various student needs are a lot for the teachers to juggle and by providing the work asynchronously in Schoology gives us the best chance to get back to 'normal' once we are on the other side of this.
As always, thank you for your partnership!
Mrs. Ray
4-6 Principal
