All About Nitrogen


The atomic number of Nitrogen is 7. The mass number is 14, and the element symbol is 'N'. There are 7 protons, 7 neutrons, and 7 electrons. It is in period 2, group 15. Nitrogen is a gas and is found in soil, water, air, and all organisms.

It is used as a coolant and also used to create ammonia which in turn is used to create many different things. Nitrogen is a non-metal. Two similar elements are Phosphorus, and Arsenic (rat poison).

Two interesting facts about nitrogen: You can use it to cool down ice cream. Nitrogen is believed to be the 7th most abundant element in the entire universe
