Ott's Outlook
June 2021
Perseverance. Creativity. Resilience. These are the three words I would use to describe how our staff and students responded to the challenges of the 2020-2021 school year. I could not be prouder of how they embraced these challenges and forged ahead.
Through adverse times, educators have the opportunity to model crisis management for our students; and trust me, they are watching. TISD remained calm, decisive, connected and collaborative from start to present. My hope is that we were able to demonstrate some valuable lessons that reach far beyond the four walls of the classroom.
When I spoke to the top 10 seniors last month I challenged them to make sure that no matter what they do or where they go, to always surround themselves with people they enjoy and will keep them moving. This is exactly what it means to be part of this community and school system. Both are places full of enjoyable individuals that will keep you moving forward in the right direction.
This was echoed throughout our top 10 seniors' speeches as they spoke about the sense of community, the support provided by their families and teachers and the embedded sense of carrying forward the Wildcat legacy. The video below will give you a chance to see first hand what this district, their families, their peers and this community have done to help prepare them for their futures.
It can only be summarized as truly special.

Thomas Baird and Bob Browder
Thomas Baird has spent most of his life in Temple and is a proud graduate of Temple High School Class of 1971. He understands the many ways that a strong school system can and will be a major contributor to the success of our community.
Thomas has a thriving law practice with a large client base and he uses his broad influence and impeccable character to promote TISD at every turn. Whether it be campaign strategy, committee involvement or fundraising efforts, Thomas is always willing to offer his support and expertise.
We are grateful for all that he has contributed and continues to contribute to Temple ISD and his support is invaluable.
Bob Browder has spent countless hours focused on efforts that have helped to transform Temple ISD in the last 10 years.
He was instrumental in the development of the PACs for the 2011, 2013 and 2015 Bond and TRE campaigns serving as the chair of each of these committees. Bob worked tirelessly to coordinate meetings, events, materials and fundraising to successfully execute each of these campaigns.
Bob can frequently be found promoting the district in the community through various events and organizations. Through his efforts we have been able to experience a district-wide transformation in our facilities and classroom technology.
Bob has been an extraordinary friend of Temple ISD and we are grateful for his ongoing service and commitment.
Both Thomas and Bob have been consistently strong advocates for our district individually but when you combine the collective efforts of these gentleman, two things are abundantly clear when this due commits to a cause
- Their passion and dedication is unwavering, and
- They will succeed.
For all of the reasons mentioned and so much more, we were honored to present them with the Friend of Temple ISD Wildcat Award at our May Board Meeting.
