Principal Chat & Check-In
While there is still a LOT up in the air, I'd love a chance just to check-in, share what I know, and hear what questions you may have. I'll host 3 different Zoom chats for anyone that would like to join in.

July 13th Board Workshop
"Take-Home Bags"
___________________________________________________________________
Dear Shannon and Cooper,
We hope that you are doing great! Our amazing Carol Ortega took leadership in suggesting and defining what type of manipulative materials we need to include in a "Home Bag" for the families that choose distance learning. We are planning on sending this file to the Curriculum Directors and then, share it with the rest of the district.
We would like to see if it is possible for you guys to share it with our educators at Wilson and Denton Creek (not only DLI) so they provide us with feedback by adding materials to the spreadsheet that we are attaching. If something is added twice, don’t worry, we will take care of it, but please encourage our educators not to remove anything from the list. We would like to send this to our Directors as soon as possible so we appreciate your support.

We will also work in a series of videos for our parents to support our learners at home with key strategies for different subjects.
Thank you so much for helping us advocate for our learners,
Chela Leon
Ed Foundation Grants
You may review the timeline and details below. I'd be happy to talk through any possible grant ideas with you!
Previous Summer Update (June 2020)
Happy Summer!
You can always email or text me if you need anything. My family and I will be "on the road" for a bit starting towards the end of the month, but I'm just a phone call away.
Dr. Hunt's Message
I need your help. I need you to speak-up, to advocate, and to hold us all accountable for how we as a school community are doing our part. I hope this can be the start of a conversation as we move into the new year. I ask that you please reach out if you have any ideas or thoughts on how we can create a safer and more inclusive Wilson.
Great News!
They will also provide stands for your iPads that you will be able to use to "convert" your iPad into a document camera.
We expect that installation should happen over the next few weeks.
Great Expectations Summer Institute
I have already reached out to educators that will be able to participate.

Board Workshop 6/8/20
In it, you will see details of the 3 options (A, B, C) currently being considered for reopening school.
You will also see a slide referencing this coming year's school calendar. This has been a hot topic across the state, as some districts are considering moving to more of a year-round schedule to build in breaks for potential COVID outbreaks. A subcommittee of DEIC met to discuss our options, and they are not recommending any changes in our school calendar.
*A CISD survey with input opportunities for both staff and educators will be coming out today or tomorrow. Please be sure to participate, and let your voice be heard!
June 24th/25th Professional Learning
Sessions will focus on digital learning and social/emotional well-being... both of which will be imperative to a successful start of the school year! This is also a great opportunity to get a head start on next year's Flex Hour requirements. #CISDLearns
