A Message From Our Principals
Dear families,
We've had a fun couple weeks! We are grateful for the extra efforts of so many people to bring our community together.
A huge thank you to the PTA!
- We had a fabulous spring book fair. It was wonderful to see the students so excited about books!
- We enjoyed our time with students having lunches, Breakout EDU, etc. The PTA sponsored several "prizes" from events such as the reading incentive and the Fun Fair.
- We have been working hard to plan the end of the year celebrations with the committees. We are excited to celebrate with the students!
- We also enjoyed welcoming our families in for our April Glacier Ridge Reads. We celebrated how the diversity of our community makes us stronger!
We look forward to many events in the coming weeks. Due to weather last week, we rescheduled the 2nd and 3rd grade music program to be on Wednesday, April 26th at 6:30. We look forward to seeing the talents of our 4th and 5th grade students at the Talent Show on Thursday, April 27th at 6:30. We also look forward to celebrating the artwork of students at the Dole on Friday, May 5th. We hope you are able to join us for these events.
Lastly, we had the pleasure of having two visitors this past week. Dr. Hinz visited for the day. We read in as many classrooms as we could. It was a joy to see the students engage in conversations about how to manage our emotions. We also had Dr. Grumley visiting. He visited our classrooms for three days and delivered professional learning to our staff on our Early Release. We will be working with Dr. Grumley in the future to strengthen our PBIS tier 1 practices. We are excited for the opportunity!
With gratitude,
Dr. Gruper and Mrs. Reinhardt

Safety Drills for 2022-2023
The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority. Under the Illinois School Safety Drill Act, all public schools are required to conduct a variety of safety drills annually. Drills practiced include fire (3), evacuation (1), shelter-in-place (1), and law enforcement (lockdown/active shooter) (3). See below for our current drill schedule:
- Fire Drills: 9/6/22, 4/14/23 and 4/28/23
- Lockdown Drill: 9/6/22, 4/14/23 and 4/28/23
- Tornado Drill (Shelter-in-Place): 9/6/22
- Bus Evacuation: 9/6/22
Preparing for various scenarios in advance helps empower staff and students in the case of a real emergency. While the chance of an incident happening is unlikely, we care about the well-being of our students and staff and are required by law to educate our school community to ensure emergency preparedness for all.
Families Communicating Immediate Needs
We want to remind families that teachers, staff, and principals prioritize teaching, learning and engaging with students during the school day. They are not expected to monitor their email while school is in session. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for an email response. If your concern is urgent, please contact the school’s main office. Thank you!
Visitors Entering the School
Please know that Mrs. Seisser or Mrs. Stark will follow the new visitor protocol. If you will be volunteering at Glacier Ridge, you will also need to follow our volunteer guidelines and complete a volunteer application. We appreciate your help in keeping our school safe!
