LIBRARY UPDATE
It's Digital Citizenship Month!
Hi Spencer Families! I am so proud of all of our students for engaging in discussions on how to be safe online. If you would like to continue the discussion at home, please ask them about this. They may ask you if they can play Interland. It's a brilliant online game developed by Google to help teach our students how to be good Digital Citizens. They can access this at home through our Media Center website, or the direct link is below:
https://beinternetawesome.withgoogle.com/en_us/interland
And, for more parent resources on how to help keep our children safe online, with more fun and games to engage your children in this topic, go to: https://www.commonsense.org/education/family-resources
Together we can keep our children safe online!

Huge THANK YOU to all our Spencer Families and Sponsors for coming out big for us for Roadrunner Run last week! It was wet and muddy, but everyone still had a great time! With your help, we raised a total of $18,731.34!!!! We are looking forward to planning lots of great things for teachers and students with this money. Thank you!
Halloween Event
Our annual Halloween event will be held on October 28th from 6-8pm. We will be doing a trunk or treat with outdoor games. There will also be two food trucks you can purchase dinner from, if you wish - the gym will be open to eat in. October is unpredictable, be prepared to dress for the weather. We still need volunteers to help with set up, games, and clean up. These are perfect opportunities for older siblings to help out! If you would like to volunteer or donate candy, please check out the Halloween Sign-Up Genius.
Talent Show
Auditions are now open!!!! If your student would like to participate in the Talent Show (new to Spencer this year), please see the attached flyer for all the details. We are asking for video auditions to be submitted by November 8th to SpencerShowcase@gmail.com. Selections will be made and announced on November 10th. If your child would like to participate, but cannot attend the live event on November 17, please submit an audition video and let us know you cannot make it! We will work on showing those videos between live acts.
Lego Club
A fall Lego Club will be starting November 4th and will take place on Thursday's after school through December 16th. Steve Johnson and Mindy VanHuffel will be running this club after school from 4:00-5:30 in the Media Center. Sign up genius is HERE! Spaces go fast, so be sure to snag one if you are interested.
As always, please check out our Facebook page and/or website for the most up to date information this year.
Note From the Counselor
Counselor Corner!
Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! I have very much enjoyed our start to a great school year. I spent the month of September visiting classrooms for a social-emotional lesson centered around forming connections with peers and strengthening friendships. I have also increased visits with individual students needing social-emotional support. I am working hard to add some peer support groups by the end of the month! As the year progresses, I am continuing to connect with classroom teachers for referrals for students who are struggling or may need additional support. If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.
We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home! Please feel free to contact your counselor with any questions or concerns that you may have, and Mrs. Fox or Mrs. McKiddy will do their best to support your child.
