Message From The Principal

Hello Eagle families,

We hear the term "mental health" quite a bit. It is as important (if not more so) than physical health. Unfortunately, mental health carries a stigma that physical health does not.

When a child is ill or injured, no one questions the need to seek medical assistance. Diabetics take insulin, asthmatics use inhalers, those with high blood pressure follow an exercise and diet regime, bone fractures are casted. Our society does not pass judgement on these conditions. Mental health is different.

Too often there is a reluctance on the part of parents and students to seek help when mental health is at risk. There is a stigma attached to seeing a therapist or counselor that does not exist for seeing the dentist. As the father of three young adults, I know first hand how fragile mental health is.

We must take time to listen to students. Truly hear what they are saying. Respect their fears and anxieties. Help them understand that they are not alone. There is help available. We need to bring mental health out of the shadows and into the light.

If a student is struggling and needs help, RVHS has a Student Wellness Check that is monitored daily by our counselors and social worker. We are here to help.

Think different. Be different.

COVID 19 ANTIGEN RAPID AT HOME TEST KITS

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Family Members,

TVUSD has received our shipment of iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid At-Home test kits for students. These test kits have been provided by the State of California to ensure each student within the state has access to at least one. Please be reminded that these at-home test kits are for students' personal use only. These tests can be used to report to TVUSD Health Services if your student is Covid positive but we recommend that PCR-antigen tests or those performed by TVUSD Health Services or medical professionals be utilized for return to school clearance.

Directions for administering the iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid at-home test kits are on the back of the kit. Scan the QR code and download the app for detailed instructions for the test kit.

Your student test kits will be distributed on Saturday, January 15th, from 8 am -12 pm. Distribution will occur at Temecula Valley High School through a drive-up. You will be asked to verify the name of your student(s) to receive your kit(s).

FAMILY UNIVERSITY ~SEL Team, Presents: CREATING A CULTURE OF ACCEPTANCE

Thursday Jan. 20th 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Via Zoom

Join us, as we discuss Creating a Culture of Acceptance!

As part of the Social-Emotional Learning team, we promote a continuum of collaborative practices that are culturally inclusive and accepting to all members of our educational community. Our goal is to promote a positive sense of self in children while also helping children accept, understand, and value the identities and differences around them.

In addition, our focus is to help families and children feel good about their own unique cultural experiences. This virtual event is a great opportunity for families to learn some helpful approaches in discussing diversity and inclusion at home.
